Have you checked your math ?? Only one song per artist, no songs over 30 minutes, pick 20. This is 10 hours of music. That's not an album...it's a BOX SET ! |

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

Hi,
Mine would be way too difficult to put together. I have over 700 hours of Space Pirate Radio shows (330 1974-1980 and the rest all from the Twitch show in 3 or 4 hour segments) ... and the variety and mood changes and quality of the material far surpasses the idea of "song" and its listing. To me, it has to be a "trip" and even though I have already done a show on the Internet (1999/2000 The Space), I would not be able to select individual pieces that would be satisfying from minute to minute and then the mood has to change ... and for that reason my show at that time was specific to a band with 2 to 3 hours worth of their material. I may do this again, but have not exactly decided on anything at this time, but compiling a list of "favorites" for me would be not satisfying at all ... I would want more of one artist, and not get taken away from it ... that's how hard and deep I listen to so much music ... I kinda live inside it, if you will and the "experience" is more important than anything else.

On the day of my creation, I fell in love with education. And overcoming all frustration, a teacher I became.

Hi,
BTW ... I doubt we would make an "album" these days ... it would be all mp3'd ... making it even harder to make a listing that made sense at all! Maybe we can find more pieces about teachers for all of you FM listeners of old! Or midnight something or other!

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I thought the OP was asking for an album, not a greatest hits?? But really, what do I know - it's not my thread

No, I designate the time for an album, usually. If interrupted, I just continue where I left off. The concept of a prog "best of " makes no sense to me, yet albums do. I see a prog LP as a mixture of long & shorter tunes (or segues) with emphasis placed on flow.

Interesting list but have to correct you on the ELP song, it's Living Sin (not ''Living In Sin''). Certainly one of their weirder songs with almost a Doors vibe, in fact a Doors song would probably go with that list nicely!
