I'll go for 72 but there's not much between this and 68/69. I also have a soft spot for the synclavier work. But of course there's good stuff all over the place.

I like them all of course, but 68/69 is the winner.

72 is top notch musically, but I just don't have a fav release from that period unfortunately. I would put 68/69 up there as well!

I don't mind any of his synclavier works despite not being the biggest fan.

I allowed multiple votes, so PA must have disallowed them or something Ermm

honorables would be 72, OG, 79 or 81, F&E, and 88 in no particular order

What I can tell here is that I'm fond of Hot Rats and Over-nite Sensation.

I love this poll. Going to be incredibly nit-picky here. The '77 band is the same as the Hammersmith '78 line-up, whereas the Joe's Garage line-up began in late '78 and continued to into '79. Pedantic rant over. Went with '88.

'75 Beefheart Touring Band. Amazing music during that period.

Cast additional votes for 66/7, 72, Flo/Eddie (200 Motels is a favorite), and the synclavier stuff.

it does get very nit-picky! My knowledge of band dynamics between the years 78-85 is very broad

Hats off to those who said the Beefheart band! I always had a soft spot for Bongo Fury (Carolina HCE is one of my fav songs ever!)
Nappy strong vocally, Terry a monster behind the kit, and Frank & Captain complimenting each other's weirdness!
Glad to see it getting some love
