Fear The Walking Dead Season 8 Part Two (6 episodes) Well this thing truly fell off the end of the cliff at the end. Dreadfull! It all felt rushed and at times 'frenetic' with an absolute abject failure by the writers to resolve anything, even going for a desperately contrived ending that wasn't remotely 'real'. Also just to pop whatever is the opposite of the 'cherry on the cake', some truly terrible overacting from a young girl who was doing all sorts of facial mannerisms for no good reason. 3/10 (and that's generous!)

Just completed season 2 of The Lazarus Project and very enjoyable it was indeed. It's complicated (time travel within time travel etc etc) but weirdly it all makes sense too, which is down to the very tight script. Hopefully another series will happen. Highly recommended 9/10
Also watching I'm a Celebrity... This season my have some fireworks - hopefully.

Yes, the fairies one I recall well. All that investigation before being announced as a hoax and no one realised that if the fairies were real and flying their wings would not be solid and still in the photos, rather a blur. I find this site interesting - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prizes_for_evidence_of_the_paranormal. It's a list of prizes for evidence of the paranormal. Guess what, non have ever been claimed. James Randi had one running from 1964. He's a hero of mine actually and there is some great information about him and the supernatural on line.

As much as I'm a sceptic I did enjoy watching it and it's 'fun' to see a case being made and then fall apart on very obvious simple things (for instance they confessed it was a hoax to of all people, Ray Allen a very well known ventriloquist and TV personality of the time and this is mentioned in the documentary). I well remember a famous hoax that was coined the 'Cottingley Fairies'. Arthur Conan Doyle was totally taken in by it but eventually the 2 young girls that perpetrated it finally confessed after 60 years that it was a hoax!

Hmm, I'd heard about this. However I can't bring myself to watch anything about "real" supernatural events and I would probably mock it throughout as like you I'm a total sceptic too. It does seem quite a bit of effort went into making this though but I could never take it seriously.

Just started Series 2 of the excellent The Lazarus Project. A great idea for time travel the likes of which I've not seen, or read, before.

I've been watching The Protectors, starring Robert Vaughn, Nyree Dawn Porter and Tony Anholt.
Robert Vaughn wasn't happy with the British way of filming where everything stops for tea. ![]() |

The Enfield Poltergeist (4 episodes)
The much publicised and famous 'haunting' of the late seventies has already been made into a drama and now we have a drama documentary. The psychic investigator of the time (Maurice Grosse) amassed over 200 hours of tape recordings of strange noises and goings on at the house in Enfield that surrounded 2 sisters. There were also photos taken and one very striking one in particular seemed to give creedence to the idea that there was supernatural phenomena taking place. The clever thing here is that actors are filmed lip synching the characters words. Creeped me out a bit but doesn't change me from being a 100% sceptic. However have to admire the throughness as they interview the sisters as well as members of Grosse's family, neighbours and other paranormal investigators. 8/10

Payback 6 episodes
Scottish made crime drama featuring the ever brilliant (and ever typecast it seems) Peter Mullan as a Glaswegian gangster. He does it so well you do wonder what he does in his spare time?! This is very well written and will likely only be a one off limited series. Recommend binging it for maximum enjoyment 8/10

The Morning Show (season 3) Drama 6/10 Not quite as compelling as previous season, but the Mrs. really likes it so I'm happy to tag along. Foundation (season 2) Sci-Fi/Drama 8/10 You really need to keep your eye on the ball with this one. Time jumps in the story line and characters that come and go. Are they dead, alive, imagined? Not a show to watch as you drift off to sleep.

Finished Loki Season 2 the other day, what a great show. Marvel hasn't been on their game recently, but the show, especially the finale, was fantastic!

Strand was always a dodgy character, ''hubris'' perhaps? He seemed to think he was doing the right thing (at least that's as he explained himself to Alicia). Yep liked John Dorie (the same actor memorably played ''The Terminator'' in the Chronicles of Sarah Connor if you remember that?!), enjoyable charcter and also his Dad (played by the brilliant Keith Carradine) no I wasn't aware of that spin off of a spin off! Nick Stahl is a great actor so intrigued certainly. No idea what platform that is on in the UK but will hopefully check it out at some point. cheers!

I just find the stories getting sillier and sillier. I liked Strand too, but why did he suddenly get so bad? The best character was John Dorie, but we know what happened to him. The submarine business was all a bit daft too. Did you know about the spin off of a spin off i.e. FTWD: Dead in the Water? Link. Six very short episodes totalling about 40 minutes. I've not got round to watching it yet.

The Morning Show Season 3 (10 episodes)
I enjoyed the first 2 seasons a lot and was looking forward to this. Might be just me but it feels as if the writing is not as strong as the first couple. Too much happens just to give characters hurdles to jump. It gets very silly in places especially. On the plus side I like seeing Billy Cruddup's CEO character trying to keep the train wreck on the tracks and it's fun to see Stephen Fry playing a very obnoxious Britsh chap lurking in the background while pulling strings. There are some good things to enjoy but ultimately it just falls flat. 5/10

Finished Lockwood & Co - brilliant. It's a real shame Netflix have not renewed, but hopefully another network will take it on (as The Expanse)
Also just finished watching the 3 part documentary on the BBC: The Detectives Taking Down an OCG. This is a fascinating watch and one of the best of this ilk I've seen. The police and witnesses in this are incredible people; brave is not a strong enough word to describe them. It's tense and disturbing in equal measures. Really well done and takes place over 2 years of investigation with a heart-breaking ending. |

^ I'm caught up to season 7, with 8 still to watch. Just like TWD, for me it's just been watching for the sake of it as I've invested so much time in these shows. FTWD went bad a long time ago and the last couple of series have been pretty dire. I've still got the other 2 spin offs to watch yet (Dead City and Daryl Dixon, as well as the Rick one to come too). I watched the first 2 eps of The World Beyond and that really was poor - I rarely give up on any TV show but man that was baaad.
