Here's my ca. 42:30 long perfect five-star version of Physical Grafitti:

A1 Ten Years Gone
A2 Down by the Seaside
A3 In the Light

B1 Kashmir
B2 Bron-yr-Aur
B3 In My Time of Dying

-Not saying that the rest of the songs are all bad of course, but I could do without pretty much all of side four.

I'm pretty much with you there - my playlist of Physical Graffiti discards all the leftover filler, apart from the two decent tracks left off Houses of the Holy, thus:

Custard Pie / The Rover / In My Time of Dying / Houses of the Holy / Trampled Underfoot / Kashmir / In the Light / Ten Years Gone / The Wanton Song / Sick Again

which at a running time of 63 minutes I find to be a much more palatable listening experience.

Of course I've listened to Carouselambra and I'm Gonna Crawl since (love both) and all in all the former album is probably worthy of 2,5 stars...
So I relistened to In Through the Out Door. I had forgotten (or not noticed) that In the Evening and All My Love are very nice tunes. I like them a lot actually. So worthy of 3,5 stars and I now prefer it to Presence.

They technically did 8 studio lps...with Coda as a later release of left overs classed as a compilation.
I think Graffiti has some mediocre tracks and some filler and would have liked to see Achilles last Stand and Nobodys Fault from Presence on it rather than several of the other tracks on side 2.
In Through The Out Door is by far my least favorite of the studio lps......not sure what they were doing with that one but it lacked balls.
If I could only keep one it would be either the debut or #4......tough choice for me.

In my opinion,

Led Zeppelin have produced three masterpieces:

1) Led Zeppelin
2) Led Zeppelin IV
3) Physical Graffiti.

The debut album is a real masterpiece, it's wonderful. It's their gift to the music. The other two are not so revolutionary but they are beautiful.

Then,

4) II is a very good album
5) Houses of the holy is a good album
6) III is a good album

the other three are not good albums.

Really the only one that can hold my attention is Houses of the Holy, and Untitled can on occasion. For the most part, I do not like Zeppelin.

Coda was basically Zeppelin product for Xmas - there were promotional events at record shops around the USA right around Thanksgiving of 1982 to launch the "new" album.....of course, it sold immensely immediately, then copies laid on shelves for months before being shuffled off to discount bins.  For me, Side 1 was five-star material, especially considering it was the first dip into the Zep vaults.....unheard prime Zep!  Side 2 was a different story - I couldn't sit thru it after the first spin.  That'd make a cool thread - albums you wore out one side of but left the second virtually untouched (and Chicago albums don't count!).

The three-CD rerelease has done wonders for Coda - to me, it was by far the best of the latest round of Zep rererererereleases.  The Bombay Orchestra stuff; the classic A/B sides, Traveling Riverside and Hey Hey; the primal Zep '68 track; the late 60s live tracks......the deluxe Coda suddenly becomes a key component in the cataloge.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Thank you for your post: I consider both "Carouselambra" and "I'm Gonna Crawl" to be among the 20 best songs the band ever did.

And you're right: Coda is mostly cold leftovers with the exceptions of "Poor Tom" (which should have been on III) and "Ozone Baby", which should have been on In Through the Out Door instead of "Hot Dog".

I've only thought of that as a collectors only/short compilation of songs that didn't make it to their studio albums. For good reasons. I could never consider it an actual studio album, because an album recorded between early 1970 / late 1978, released two years the band disbanded* and their drummer had died - simply isn't. But appearently Coda has grown into a one and a half hour long monster and all of a sudden it's supposedly good - or even great? How did that happen? I need to find out.

*due to contractual commitments to Atlantic Records.

Btw: the 30 minutes of cold leftovers on Coda sold over a million records in the US alone. The biggest selling album of 2021 (Adele - 30) has sold about half the amount of that - worldwide.

Just meandering through this thread before I posted I thought I would be the first one to place III at the top but you beat me to it. Anyway:

Physical Graffiti
II

Houses of the Holy

In Through the Out Door
Presence
