Canterbury Scene Music

That's a great song and Legends of a Mind sounds like my kind of compilation album. I'd forgotten "C'thlu Thlu" was on the Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night album. I read the lyrics to the song but I'm still none the wiser as to what it means. I can't even pronounce it, never mind understand it.  

C'thlu Thlu, such a fun song. Great electric guitar and very catchy.

It's not really a repeat post. All of the old Caravan album links were repaired and replaced this morning and I typed out the Caravan intro - copied from the Caravan album sleeve notes - this morning too.  

CARAVAN      "What does the name CARAVAN mean to you? The mainstream standard? The silhouetted palm tree and camel on boxes of dates at Christmas? They seem influenced by their name - those long swooping lines, something nomadic about it, probably the flute. The flute playing Sahara bird flight solos hovering over the camel-train, earth magic, soft machine and sky. It's nearer to us than Africa though, like Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar they home in from the east. Who knows what you will find, this is a journey at the end of the 20th century, lift the yashmaks and see little bubbles of sound breaking through dry sound. CARAVAN making huge music constructions right out there in the open where everyone can see, each tune constructed, built up with layers of sound, different textures, some delicate and filmy like gauze - coloured lights, see-through tights - others heavy and stomping like old desert blankets loaded with North African memory-dust. BRAINVILLE      There are some bands who come along sounding like no band you've ever heard before and that's certainly the case with the wonky music of Brainville. They're listed here as Canterbury Scene, but this is more like Avant Prog and not to my tastes at all, although I know there are some progheads here who will love this kind of offbeat, experimental music - and if the off-kilter, slightly mad singer reminds you of Daevid Allen of Gong, that's because it is him. 

BIG HOGG      A Scottish sextet who are a long way from Canterbury, but close to Hatfield, if you catch my drift. Why not go the whole Hogg and check out their entire discography, which shouldn't take long as there's only one of three albums currently available on You Tube. In the rich pageantry of Canterbury Scene music, this virtually unknown, smoking hot band should be up there with the big beasts. 

On the subject of Antique Seeking Nuns, it's just Chips & Beans without the Double Eggs for dinner tonight.
