The gigantic Sergio Leone epic Once Upon a Time in America -- and not least because of the wonderful Ennio Morricone soundtrack.

My top three Robert De Niro movies are:
1. The Deer Hunter 2. Sleepers 3. The Irishman But for this poll my opinion would have to be The Untouchables |

If there's such a thing as a prog movie then Brazil is it. I always forget RD was in that though. However, I haven't seen most of the others so no vote.

Hi,
I have to admit that as much as I have seen several of those films, they have never surpassed my love and appreciation for a lot of International Film for over 30 years. I can't tell you why, but there is a side of the school of acting by De Niro, Pacino and even Hoffman, that to me, were already the 2nd generation of the Actor's Studio, and I'm not sure that they were as well defined and clear as the first generation, even though, of those we seem to think that Marlon Brando is the only great one, when there were many others that blazed through American Theater really well, while these three went with the new generation, which was NOT theater, but FILM. Neither is one better than the other. Both are important and very different, but the continuity of characterization in one evening in the theater is far more satisfying than any movie I have ever seen! And if you have never seen something as strong and well done as West End stuff or National Theater, you likely do not know what I am saying. But PA folks, by comparison here, are still into musicals from Broadway as the greatest thing since peanut butter and jelly!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

The 'correct' answer is Raging Bull I know but actually I've never seen it! I love Brazil but De Niro is quite a small part of it in truth.
