I've not listened to enough new music of relevance for PA yet. 2023 favorite so far is The Necks - Travel. Also not on PA, but I guess I think they belong here. My favorite actually in PA is the always wonderful Kosmischer Läufer's new album Volume Five

I listened to your album when it first came out and liked it but actually enjoyed some of your earlier stuff better.

After your post, I went back again. I realized that I'm not as into straight doom like at the beginning of SotW, but that's just my taste, it's well done. But then listening with somewhat fresh ears to the whole album, I'm digging it a lot more. More psych and prog. Odd time in Porcelain is really good, and just the variation of so many textures. The middle section of SotW is my kind of music, and I dig the guitar sound which has more of a single coil feel in a lot of places even thought it's really heavy.

So - Bravo good sir.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

suggest the band/artist if it's not on PA yet.

They were rejected by Jazz Rock Fusion a couple of years ago. I always considered them borderline but primarily jazz. Great album, great band.

Yes, they do have a little bit of "everything I like". Modern jazz, Motorik/Kraut etc... but Post-Rock is where I'd place them here at PA. Maybe purely accidental, the building blocks are certainly different. But there's a lot of similarities experiencing their music for me as a listener.

Here's mine, decided to branch out a bit, want to go and listen to more genres I like this year than just solely prog rock.

1. Scaring The Hoes by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown
2. Carousel by Vylet Pony
3. Seeking The Sources of Streams by Cicada
4. Fauna by Haken
5. Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre by Periphery

No really big five star masterpiece yet, but maybe one day 2023 will have that big stand out album, like what 2022 had with All The Pretty Days by Fren.

The Mars Volta latest album is an 'unplugged' affair. It doesn't suck which is something I suppose.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Wasn't aware of a new album by them. Looking forward to it. The Zopp-album as well (which I was aware of, but simply haven't checked out yet). So far I've got:

Swans - The Beggar
The Necks - Travel
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - PetroDragonic Apocalypse*
Susanne Sundfør - Blómi
Kosmischer Läufer - Volume Five

-and that's pretty much all I got too... with any sort of PA-relevance I mean.

Aksak Maboul - Une aventure de VV (Songspiel)
Squid - O Monolith
Kong - Traders of Truth
Battlestations - Memories of once
Kavus Torabi & Richard Wileman - Heaven's Sun

I don't list the Swans album yet, only heard it once, but chances are it'll be top 5.

Just didn't make it: Zopp - Dominion, Poil Ueda
Not on PA: Mammal Hands - Gift from the Trees; Jeremias Keller - Alloy. The Necks album isn't bad either.

One more I wasn't aware of (the Songspiel one) and another I was aware of but haven't gotten around to checking out yet (O Monolith). Edit: just listened to a couple of songs from the latter bands latest, and decided to buy. Sounded amazing. I heard the quality of the music but wasn't personally completely sold on their debut, but I've understood that O Monolith is a different beast.

Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

I don't think I have a top 5 yet but that Ultraphauna album would surely be there. I think you had posted a Bandcamp link in another thread and that's how I came to hear it. So, thank you. It's great.
