Servant Season 4

I think this got better through the series. So is she the devil or isn't she?! Well it didn't quite clarify that in the end so you are left to make your own mind up. A nice ride for horror fanatics.8/10

^ I'm looking forward to the next series of Servant, great show. It's between that and the second series of Carnival Row as what to watch next.

Currently watching The Last of Us - Simply brilliant. Easily a 10/10.

^ I think that's it for Servant although I guess there could be a spin off exploring the existence of the strange cult and what it does. That seemed to be suggested by the last episode.
Carnival Row is absolutely brilliant, I watched episodes 5 and 6 of Season 2 yesterday and it keeps getting better. Can't praise it high enough especially for a fantasy based show.
The Last Of Us is a superb show for sure.Thumbs Up

I've just finished watching Season 2 of Waterloo Road - a series based on a tough comprehensive school in Rochdale, northern England. I'm not saying the school is rough but, there's fighting between the teachers and parents in the playground, the kids get detention for manslaughter and they have to kill more than five people before they get expelled. Ouch

Headmaster Jack Rimmer offers some gentle words of advice for one of his pupils.

Just started watching The Offer. It's about the making of The Godfather from the perspective of the producer Alan Ruddy (played by Miles Teller). Only watched 2 episodes so far but it's absolutely fascinating. I never knew that Frank Sinatra used his Mafia connections to try and try to get the production shut down before it was even cast. This was due to his personal beef with the writer Mario Puzo who had previously written a book about a degenerate singer and Sinatra believed it was about him! Can't wait for further episodes.

Project Blue Book - USA/Canada - (2019-2020: 2 Seasons / 20 Episodes)

Peradventure the optimal show for the lovers of The X-Files.

Cancelled after the 2nd season. Well, not too dismaying as it was hinted that a further season would be rather an SFX show instead of a drama/mystery.

A fairly decent series that is engaging from start to finish. I'm not amazed or so, but having fun while learning something is good. Whilst, I have to say that I've watched this series sceptically as per usual, by reason of the fact that the happenings depicted there are said to be based on true events. Most of them were feasible, mind you, howbeit I always take such things with a pinch of salt. 7.5/10

Wolf Pack 2023

Back to the old werewolf mythology for this Paramount+ drama. Must admit I had very low expectations and was expecting another high school angsty thing. Thankfully it does have some serious horror moments and the very likeable Sarah Michelle Geller returning after a long absence ( I assume this only because I don't remember anything else she's done in a while). It's solid and worth a watch and now seems nicely set up for a further season. 7/10

Star Trek Discovery Season 4

As much as I like the characters, I found this particular story desperately underwhelming, failing to generate enough tension or intrigue as well as lacking any real emotional impact. Apparently a final season is planned for early 2024. Hopefully the writers will come up with a decent finale.

Shrinking Season 1

Comedy drama from the producers of Ted Lasso starring Jason Siegel and Harrison Ford. I totally warmed to this and would make the perhaps bold claim that it has the best characters in a TV comedy since Schitt's Creak. Of course it would love to be as good as that and honestly it's not far off being at times equally funny as it is touching. Looking forward to future seasons. 8.5/10

The last season of Servant I found quite disappointing. No real explanation as to what was going on - a shame really as elements were very well done.

Just finished the second, and final, series of Carnival Row. It's not as good as the first series and it seemed a bit rushed to a conclusion. Nevertheless, still an enjoyable ride. 7/10 this season, 8/10 overall.

There was never going to be a clear resolution I think because it was always very 'hokey' and the ride was the thing. I note that Lauren Ambrose has popped up in season 2 of Yellowjackets. Highly recommended, also includes Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis having an absolute blast!

^ Yes, I'm looking forward to season 2 of Yellowjackets. But as always I'll wait until the whole lot has dropped before starting - same for Se04 of Succession.

Yellowstone Season 2

If you like a modern western you'll like this. Kevin Costner plays the head of a patriarchal family that own a massive ranch in Montana. I've mentioned before that this has some uncanny resemblances to another great show Succession. He has 3 boys and one girl, the girl played brilliantly by British actress Kelly Reilly. Also some notable supporting actors especially the ever wonderfull Danny Huston. Season 2 contains one of the best episodes of TV you will ever likely to see as Reilly's character Beth is attacked in her office by 2 masked men. It's totally brutal but a must watch if you care about quality TV drama. 9/10

Ultimate Force

I just bought Season 4 of Ultimate Force, so I can look forward to watching the communal shower scene again with Heather Peace, with Home Secretary David Blunkett and his guide dog looking on, so to speak.

At my wife's behest we started on series 1 of White Lotus. Not the sort of TV we normally go for, it's mainly sci-fi or horror for us. But this is rather enjoyable and quite funny at times. We could have done without an eyeful of cock and balls in the the first episode though lol. Hawaii looks gorgeous too.

Not long ago watched Locke and Key, Shadow and Bone, Midnight Club, and The Irregulars.......all were decent... really enjoyed the Irregulars....strange mix of a Sherlock Holmes variation with the supernatural.

^ I just had to look that up! The lady portrayed on the motorcycle is called Sister Simone as played by the wonderful actress Betty Gilpin (starred in the Netflix retrospective drama GLOW or otherwise Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling) . Read the synopsis and it should be fun!
