This evening, I have uploaded an interview with the incredibly talented Guy Manning, this hot on the heels of the Damanek release, Making Shore. Guy has been kind enough to go into great detail about that project and his solo work, so please do enjoy. The interview link is on the usual part of my homepage, or click here at https://lazland.org/interviews/guy-manning

In addition, there is a review of an album by some bloke who used to play with Yes, a certain Mr Richard Wakeman. In fact, although you couldn't accuse it of being a pure prog album, it is rather good and worth your time.

I had hoped to upload a couple more album reviews, namely Solstice and Klone, but an almost disastrous website glitch this evening which took about three hours to clear put paid to that. The thrill, though, is in the anticipation, and you will see these next week.

Very nice on the Manning interview Steve, and well worth the wait! And for those that don't know, the Making Shore album by Mr. Manning and co. is a prog must have, imho. And anything by Mr. Wakeman deserves our attention, be it pure prog or not, so a fine review. Cheers, and keep the fine work. It's most appreciated~!

Thank you, Steve. Your feedback is always greatly appreciated.

Making Shore is simply superb. A must have by all decent music lovers. As for Wakeman, I do quite like the album. As you say, he is an important artist, and this album could never be described as pure prog, but I like it, and my review hopefully reflects that - I know that many disagree with me, but that is fine.

Tonight, BTW, first listen to new Inner Prospekt & Haken albums Clap

The Guy Manning interview was a very enjoyable read.  Very interesting.  I haven't listened to him Manning work in a few years.  I will have to revisit it as they are always enjoyable listens.  Making Shore is actually the only 2023 release that I have listened to so far this year.  An excellent release!

Thanks, Scott. Yes, Guy really went into an enjoyable level of detail. He is a very interesting interviewee and wonderfully open about his craft.

All three Damanek albums are very highly recommended, and as I said in the interview, revisiting some old Manning favourites, and hearing for me some new stuff, was thoroughly enjoyable.

I am very blessed that such talented and decent artists give their time and words to me completely without any exchange of fees - simply talking about a passion for music.

As I move forward, I have some plans to increase this aspect of my website. I have been asked to do some work on YouTube, but I have resisted this so far.

The first of this week's updates is a review of the new Solstice album, Light Up, a very enjoyable record. As ever, the button link on the Homepage www.lazland.org will take you there.

Forthcoming reviews of albums by Klone, Inner Prospekt, Haken, and Lazuli, will follow in the next week, or so.

Video of the Week is Triste Carnaval from Lazuli's 11, which is simply quite magnificent.

Nice work as usual Steve. I liked the new Solstice review, and you convinced me to take the plunge and support the band from Melton Keys on this one. I must say that I was a bit disappointed with Sia from 2020, but I suppose they all can't be mega works like Prophesy, my personal favorite of the newer albums. I'm looking forward to the up comming reviews on Inner Prospect, Haken and Lazuli. Excellent bands all. Cheers.

Tonight's update is a review of the new Haken release, Fauna. Generally a very positive reception here in Lazland. Link as usual is on the homepage, which will also take you to a veritable cornucopia of other words and music, some of which will be familiar, and also some which will be brand new.

Excellent reports on Haken and Inner Prospect, Steve. And the videos really help to tie the review and the music together into a greater whole. I'm intrigued by Klone, of whom I'm unfamiliar. They sound familiar to me at times while sounding completely alien at the same time. Must listen again and seek out more tunes to as they have piqued my interest. Thanks again for the all your efforts.

Rollicking Haken review, Steve.  I like Fauna more each time I listen to it. Everything you said in your review!

This evening, I bring you a very special interview. Last year, I reviewed the Special Edition of Imaginaerium "The Rise of Medici". To coincide with the release of the album in general release, Clive Nolan, Laura Piazzai, and Anne-Claire Rallo (the partner of the late, truly great, Eric Bouillette) have undertaken an interview with my website.

The detail they have gone into regarding the new album is incredible. In addition, Clive talks about Arena, Alchemy, and other projects, whilst Laura provides lovely detail about her musical journey.

I have been very lucky to have some very talented artists agree to be interviewed for my website. I think that you will all agree that this is a very special interview and I know that you will also enjoy the music on this new album.

A stunning interview with Clive, Laura and Anne-Claire, Steve. Another to be savored and re-read. I'll have more thoughts tomorrow when I refresh my memory. Stay tuned.

Many thanks, Steve. Yes, an incredible amount of detail from the three of them. As I said to Anne-Claire last night, I had one of my most pleasurable evenings "working" editing and putting that together before uploading to the site.

Happy days!

Hi Jared. Yes, I did see that. I had some nice contact with Hayley after I reviewed the two albums last month, and I would love to see her live.

Leave it with me and I will get back to you. I will be asking Ioan to look after his grandmother so we can both get to see Merry Hell at Acapela in December, so Hayley could be my one solo trip, but it depends upon the issues you are aware of.

Yes, that's fine. I wasn't sure whether you had seen it; I might well be up for this if it becomes a possibility for you.
