I've always loved Yes (Well Debut thru Drama at least; I'll take a rain check on all that came afterwards and judge it on an individual basis). I even think Tormato is better than it gets credit for...

but I have always struggled with TFTO. Relayer, I have few problems with, even though it's a bit self-indulgent in places, but TFTO? I've recently given it another half dozen listens and honestly? There really is only enough decent material here for another 40 minute album. I think this must be where The Flower Kings got their inspiration for surplus padding for their double albums from... Ermm

Every YES album from Talk (1994) onwards is by far the best YES era for me, with the rare exception of Open Your Eyes, obviously. Smile

By the way, I absolutely LOVE Mike Oldfield's "Music from the Balcony"! And the whole Heaven's Open album!

My Guilty secret - but not a secret any more - is I once gave Michael Oldfield's Heaven's Open album away to a charity shop and I've never regretted it. Embarrassed

I am tremendously devoted to the two Genesis albums Trespass and And Then There Were Three, but what came in between the two albums kind of leaves me cold.

My favourite track from Split Enz - Mental Notes is the pop song "Maybe". This was the track I first heard on the radio and introduced me to the group. In spite of all the prog on the album, I still love this track the most.

My embarrassing opinion is that Genesis have never done better than Trespass, that is a little masterpiece of melodic prog rock.

Basically, they are a group of tremendously serious and competent but also tremendously boring musicians... particularly Banks.

Peter Gabriel, alone, starting from III and up to.... Up, did better than Genesis.

The first two King Crimson albums do very little for me - it's not for lack of musicianship but simply boring writing of Fripp's part.  it's not until Lizard and especially Islands that Fripp begins to come into his own composition-wise, just wish the initial lineup had been around to record both those LPs......ahhh, one can only imagine.  
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....
