You have your hands full, sir!

'Too Many Voices' is just a lovely, moving tribute. 'Breaking Point' is a real finger tapper... all three could fit quite nicely on Chameleon; shorter more straight forward tracks. Like many, I came to the conclusion long ago that Tina could sing the Telephone Directory and it would be worthy of a space in your CD collection... LOL
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Too Many Voices is gorgeous, a really heartfelt track. I love the jazzy smokiness of Because, especially Jones' sax. Breaking Point will take quite a few listens before I fully appreciate it.

I know you do have your hands full, as above, but I wonder if you’ve heard, and/or are planning on reviewing the Solace Supplice album. I would love to read your take on it. I probably would T even ask, but I think I’m somewhat overwhelmed by Eric’s passing. Even though I knew it was coming, it hasn’t meant it hasn’t hit me hard. I’m shattered.

Hi Nick. I have just seen your post on FB and responded. Terribly sad news.

I have actually listened to the album on quite a few occasions and it is simply one of those I have not got around to reviewing because of time pressures. I have enjoyed the album very much and will try my best to make an effort to review in the course of the week.

Two new album reviews added to Album Reviews 2022 Page. A review under the saddest of circumstances for Solace Supplice - Liturgies Contemporaines; and Finnish alternative rock group Spiritraiser sophomore album, Ciklos.

Ale of the Week added to Beer & News Page.

Video of the Week – Los Bravos; Black is Black!

The historic reviews project continues with 2003 reviews of albums by Steve Hackett, Mostly Autumn, and Arena. 2002 has just the one album review, but it is a good one – Up from Gabriel (I have told you all that this project is now becoming hit & miss until I add original content), 2001 reviews of Pendragon, Marillion, The Flower Kings, Mostly Autumn, two albums by Yes, Blackmore’s Night, and Magenta.

Finally, a restaurant review added to that section of Beer & News Page.

Thanks my friend... it wasn't one I was rushing out to explore (although 20 years ago, I might have done so...) and I think your review has confirmed the reasons why not.. Wink

Report of the 2022 Mansel Arms Real Ale Festival uploaded to Beer & News Psge.

Video of the Week is The Round Window second single, Avalon, from their forthcoming eponymous debut album, due to be released 30th September. I have received an advance copy of the album, and it is a wonderful progressive creation, and this is a thoughtful track from it. I also recommend the first single, Take My Hand. There will be an exclusive interview with the band to follow in September.

2000 historical interviews added to Album Reviews by Year Page. Albums by Radiohead, Genesis, Arena, IQ, King Crimson, Transatlantic, Peter Gabriel, and Spock’s Beard.

Presently listening to Lonely Robot and Aliante. Hopefully, reviews to be posted within the week.

A brand new feature, because you asked for it! Well, no you didn't, but if you had thought of it, you most certainly would have asked for it.

I have added a new feature to the homepage at www.lazland.org to celebrate Bandcamp Friday. This will likely stay on the site, but today is Bandcamp Friday and your opportunity to provide even more support to our beloved artists and maintain their ability to make the music we love. The first portion features Chest Rockwell, The Round Window, Built for the Future, and Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate. The first three have provided exclusive interviews for my site, and these will be published shortly, and an interview is also with Malcolm Galloway of Hats Off and will hopefully be ready for publication shortly.

Review of Lonely Robot new album added to Album Reviews 2022 Page. Damned fine it is, too.

Review of Aliante, Destinazione Oblique, added to Album Reviews 2022 Page.

Video of the week is Radiohead, OK Computer.

Bandcamp Friday section added last week has been retained, but sort of amended to "coming up on lazland.org......"

^^ I enjoyed reading your Flower Kings & Tangerine Dream reviews from this year, Steve, thanks!

I really need to get better acquainted with more recent TD.. as for tFK, that is how I feel about all their 2CDers.. enough quality material for a 55 minute disk, the rest being quirky filler... Confused

As ever, thanks very much Jared.

Yes, TFK, so much talent, so much filler, yet so much enjoyment when they get it right.

One of the albums I hope to review this next week, time allowing, is Ghost of the Machine. I would be interested to hear your take on what is, essentially, a throwback to those heady days of Marillion & IQ in their early pomp.

I will definitely review Dim Gray's new one, which is marvellous, and, again hopefully, The Bardic Depths.

Curved Air have cancelled their gig tonight because of Covid... Cry

I was just about to set off after lunch, when the email came through at 11.38.. they are going to try and re-schedule. Shame for the band, as it was part of a mini tour, with Wokingham (Fri), Hawkfest (Sat), Southampton (Sun) & Chelmsford (Mon) still to come..  Ouch

Exclusive interview with Malcolm Galloway of Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate has been posted to my website this afternoon at https://lazland.org/interviews/hats-off-gentlemen-its-adequate

The interview is extremely comprehensive and features some great music as well, so if you are new to the band or wish to explore them further, then I heartily recommend that you get over.

In addition, some thoughts on the death of the Queen added to News & Ramblings Section of Beer & News Page.

As long as you didn't invite Hugues along as Guest Editor, I think we'll be in safe hands.. Embarrassed

Post Script: I do fully realise, in the light of subsequent, seismic events, this now seems rather self-indulgent, but of course it was written 6 hours before the news came through, to put such inconveniences into perspective.

I will do my best to get along to your blog in due course...

Yes, apologies. I didn’t see this until after the news re Queen. That was a huge shame for you. Hopefully, the rearranged gigs will be quite soon, and it appears that all other gigs, including Marillion, are going ahead.

I somehow doubt Hugues would accept any invitation…..LOL

In early October, Chest Rockwell will be releasing a new album, Mentis Oculi. Listed as neo-prog on Prog Archives, I can say that Liz Truss's left breast is more neo than this band, so not a lot, really. Their music is very heavy with some clear post rock sensibilities, so if this type of thing floats your boat I am glad to say that Josh Hines has provided me with codes to enable you to enjoy free downloads of his music on Bandcamp.

There are a limited number available, and I will send you codes if you PM me on a strictly first come, first served basis. I would also appreciate it if you could review the album after its release on 4th October.

I look forward to hearing from you. BTW, as a reminder, there is a great interview with Malcolm Galloway of Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate on the site, and in addition to Josh, there are interviews to come for The Round Window and Built For The Future, and you can listen to previews of new music on the homepage at www.lazland.org
