My mom's family was poor, but they scraped together enough money to see the film that came out with much hype attached to it. Edited by Easy Money - September 01 2022 at 06:45 |

How about what happened to Buddy Ebsen as the original Tinman. Terrible. |

Hi,
Not having been born in America or been here in my first formulative years, this slice of Americana does not mean a whole lot to me at all ... I find it silly, and the kind of thing that American media/film at the time people needed to get uplifted after WW2 even though the film appeared in 1939, but I doubt that it had much appeal until AFTER the war, not before!

^The movie scared me as a child also. The wicked witch and her flying monkey's, and Oz. What was behind that curtain? But the movie also has one of the greatest songs ever, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". And it gives a shout out to my - no place like home - state of Kansas. Superb movie!

It now servs both as a film that me as a fan of fantasy based movies will get atracted to and also has an academic level of interest. Also yes Toto is a good call, i had a cairn terrier, and I get nostalgic for different reasons for watching the dog in the film, as i see my dog also |

Any self-respecting geek will tell you the Tinman rocks the house--- he's steampunk, he's heavy metal, he's sci-fi . |

Totolly [sic] was expecting to see Toto in this poll, especially as Icarium is a huge Toto the band fan. I have to wonder if he was expecting us to expect Toto and then fool us by not adding it. I may, however, be barking up the wrong tree. The scarecrow perhaps (Hay, man, how's it goin?), but I haven't watched the film since I was about five, I think, but I have seen bits and pieces since and still seem to remember the film really well. |

The Lion was a pussy. The Tinman was a Wimp The Scarecrow was simple minded, but totally loyal and caring to Dorothy.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.
