4 stars 1985: Le Parc - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lsmX2VSg1qMvBTTRv6unoj1kGn2Le_KLo

Le Parc is the 26th album overall and marks the beginning and ending of an era for Tangerine Dream. Le Parc is the band's first studio album on the Jive Electro label, but sadly, it's the last album to feature Johannes Schmoelling in the trio. This brief era (1985-1987) has come to be known as Tangerine Dream's "Blue Years", presumably because that was the colour of their new record label and not because fans were left feeling blue about the sudden departure of Johannes Schmoelling. Le Parc features nine tracks inspired by the major city parks of the world with the title track NOT representing Paris as you might expect, but Los Angeles, where it was famously used as the theme for the TV series Street Hawk, (which didn't star Jan Michael Vincent as I'd presumed). Interestingly, the final track "Yellowstone Park" features the soaring vocals of Clare Torry, who you may remember from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. Wink

Track Listing:-

1. Bois de Boulogne (Paris)
2. Central Park (New York)
3. Gaudi Park (Barcelona)
4. Tiergarten (Berlin)
5. Zen Garden (Kyoto)
6. Le Parc (Los Angeles) - Street Hawk theme
7. Hyde Park (London)
8. The Cliffs of Sydney (Sydney) - obviously!
9. Yellowstone Park (Rocky Mountains)

Le Parc sounds even better after hearing it again today. That's the first time I've listened to the album in over thirty years! I'm heading into uncharted territory now, as I've only heard three Tangerine Dream albums beyond 1985 (Underwater Sunlight; Optical Race & Lily on the Beach) with the lush Green Desert album coming up next, but before that, a brief interlude.....

This seems like the perfect time to feature the albums of Johannes Schmoelling, whose solo career took off almost from the moment he left Tangerine Dream:-

I could only find full album links for three of Johannes Schmoelling's albums on YouTube, although there are individual videos available for all ten of those listed albums. I could do with a Tangerine Dream channel so I can assemble my own album playlists. Smile

4 stars 1986: Green Desert (recorded in 1973) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyYbiw4qPIc&t=276s

Green Desert is Tangerine Dream's 27th album overall, but was originally intended to be their 5th album (after "Atem"). Green Desert was recorded back in 1973 but ended up being locked away in Edgar Froese's vaults for many years until being remixed and partly re-recorded in the mid-1980's. The early tapes of the album were good enough to secure Tangerine Dream a record deal with Richard Branson's emerging Virgin label and the rest is history, as they say. Green Desert has come to be regarded as something of a "lost classic" amongst Tangerine Dream fans, where the album would have appeared like a green oasis in a barren desert of early 1970's electronica - had it been released in 1973 - and dare I say, Green Desert is even better than the actual 5th album: Phaedra. Thumbs Up

Track Listing:-

1. Green Desert (19:25)
2. White Clouds (5:01)
3. Astral Voyager (7:03)
4. Indian Summer (6:53)

I'll try not to get distracted again, so I'll leave you two to argue amongst yourselves while I have a listen to Tangerine Dream's Legend soundtrack. Smile

I'm not arguing. You don't seem to be bothered by what's happened, whatever...

Cristi, this was not meant as an insult, but as a constructive criticism of something that I've felt bothered by quite a long time.

And I wished, you stopped using these denigrating emoticons.

there's nothing constructive about it, you say "you cannot see the forest because of the trees" to someone who does not understand something obvious, which used here makes no sense. What is it what i do not understand? What am i being accused of not being able to understand? Confused

All I did was point out your off-topicness. My mistake... You can do whatever you want, derail threads and so on. Ouch

Yes, I should have written "the forest" in stead of "the wood", sorry, and the meaning is that somebody is so focused on the trees (details), so he/she can't see the forest (the entirety/the whole context).
And I wished that you saw things more in their context. For instance this time, there was no reason to intervene, as there was only little off-topicness, and some off-topicness, with maybe some very positive contents, is good for the interacting and the whole atmosphere on the forum.
