From this list I especially like Kate Bush, Eloy, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, Rush and Twelfth Night. I'm not capable, yet, to choose one over another.

It's probably the only poll in this series where Rush are likely to get a Bush-whacking from Kate. Big smile

I'd be surprised if Power Windows doesn't get a similar Bush-whacking from Kate.

I tend to think it would be best to leave Rush put of some of these polls, because the results would become more interesting. I could easily have voted for 4 or 5 others, but it would have been dishonest, because Signals is so special.

For me ; the National Health-D. S. Coda is the most proggy of this bunch. Still, lots of good bands in this list namely Roxy Music, Peter Gabriel, and Kate Bush. Even though King Crimson is my favorite prog outfit ; I find Beat to be their worst effort.

Another heavy-duty year. I have at least ten of those. Rush will win this easily, so I'll probably vote for maybe Eloy or Twelfth Night (Fact and Fiction means a lot to me).

Jon Lord's Before I Forget is a fantastic solo effort, too. "Tender Babes" is worth the price of admission. Recommended.

Thanks for reminding me about Tangerine Dream, but at least I didn't forget about Jon Lord. Wink

I've now replaced Uriah Heep's abominable Abomnog album with TD's far superior White Eagle album. Thumbs Up

Avalon, just to break the monotony.

Nat Health are excellent and that KC lp is their worst imho.

Five Miles Out, but I do like Time to Turn and Avalon, though not generally a Roxy Music fan.

This is a better year for me than the previous, and like 1980, I could have voted for about half of them. The nod goes to Mike Oldfield this time, presenting the best balance between the pop that a certain cloth-eared media mogul wanted and the kind of instrumentals MO is best known for.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

Kate and KC (one of their best, yes, screw the haters, I love BEAT) could get my vote, but I'll toss it to ALLAN. The Grump and I will remain the sole defenders of his solo output (Metheny Group also deserves a nod).

It's starting to become hard... In this list I see the worst albums by Jon Anderson, Camel and Zep. My vote goes to something that I can hardly consider prog: Avalon.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I correct myself: Animation is not that bad. I confused it with 3 ships.

^^ Paul, could you allow multiple votes and ask us to vote for 3? The results might be a little more interesting?
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
