It's Time to Turn now to The Year 1982, and Before I Forget, I'll just mention that this poll Signals the beginning of the Neo Prog era with the first CD album by Twelfth Night, although it's unlikely to Beat the mighty Rush in the voting. Famous Last Words. Smile

Although the greatness were coming from the more marginal sub-genres (and not form UK), I think prog was in great shape up till about 1981. This is the first year for me where there's not a whole lot of great albums for me to choose from. But still there was a lot of greatness out there if you like strange music. Here's ten:

Kate Bush - The Dreaming art pop masterpiece - and got my vote.
Art Zoyd - Phase IV  another fantastic slice of chamber prog.
The Residents both Intermission and The Tunes of Two Cities are among their best
Uakti - Uakti 2
Holger Czukay, Jah Wobble & Jaki Liebezeit - Full Circle
Fabio Frizzi - Paura Nella Cittą Dei Morti Viventi
Reinhard Lakomy - Das Geheime Leben
Osjan - Roots
Embryo - La Blama Sparozzi

You won't be surprised to hear that The Dreaming is the only album I know in your list, which also happens to be my least favourite Kate Bush album. Confused

I think you'd rate my ten 1982-albums mostly 1 or 2 stars, but maybe you could enjoy this one

I'll show National Health some love here ahead of one of the weaker Crimson albums.

Personal favorites

Art Zoyd - Phase IV
Etron Fou Leloublan - Les Poumons Gonfles
Jean-Paul Prat - Masal
Laurie Anderson - Big Science
XTC - English Settlement

Allan Holdsworth is the shining star from this group closely followed by the unrated Pat Metheny Group.

The Pat Metheny Group's "Offramp" is the only album I wasn't able to find on YouTube, so I haven't been able to listen to and rate the album yet. Wink

Twelfth Night
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Yes, it is a shame.  I could only find one "Offramp" playlist with just one video available and six videos hidden from view. I guess I must have headed up the wrong Offramp. Confused

Not a weak collection at all, with Kate Bush the best of them (that one would win most years).

I'm afraid it has to be Signals, but the thumbs up also go to Eloy, APP, Tull, Plant & Twelfth Night who also brought out great albums that year...

oddly, I also found Abominog hugely enjoyable when I was 15...

Though The Dreaming is amazing, I had to go with my favorite of all of Ant's Private Parts & Pieces. The two guitarists work together is sublime.

Kate got my vote...
but that's my favorite Jon Anderson solo record right there.  I'm usually the only one.

There are a few albums in this list I really like, so it'll take me a while to decided which one to vote for.
