As you can probably tell, I have been busy this week owing to absence from work, so a review of the new Kaipa album has been uploaded this afternoon.

Right. I have booked my ticket for:

'Retreat From Moscow': Sat 25th June at Acapela Studio, Heol Y Pentre, Cardiff 8pm

I have also booked a dining table for Pizza at 6pm at the venue.

In the afternoon, I will enjoy another traversal around the splendid Castell Coch (Think Walt Disney spires, Victorian High Gothic interiors):

As an English Heritage/CADW life member, I can get someone else in for free, so if anyone fancies joining me for what promises to be an excellent afternoon/ evening of culture, great food and fabulous prog for an altogether modest sum, please get in touch!

It would be a bit of a trek from Suffolk, but I hope someone closer takes you up on the offer.

Your company would have been most enlightening and pleasurable...

You never know, a walk around Oxburgh Hall, followed by a gig in Bury?

Regrettably, this will be very difficult for me. I have to travel to London on Sunday 26th and am there until late on Tuesday night owing to my teaching trainees at our Stratford Centre. It would be a wee bit of a push to get away on the Saturday, but if anyone can, then it would be a great day. The pleasure of meeting Jared plus The Acapela is a fantastic intimate venue. There is also a decent pub over the road for a couple of beers beforehand.

Thank you for the kind words, Steve. There will always be other occasions; maybe we could target the Magenta acoustic set there, in November?

Now, that sounds like a really good idea. I have never seen Magenta and it is the type of gig my wife probably would not be interested in, which solves the caring aspect of getting one of the kids in to look after mother-in-law. Let’s plan!!

Check this out and see what you think? We can also book a table for Pizzas at 6pm if you like?

It's very doubtful that Sue will want to come either, so it might just be the two of us plus any other PA'ers who fancy joining us. I'm going to have to work out how to play this carefully however, because Frost* are also playing Wolverhampton on the Sunday night... Embarrassed

Fantastic. Tell you what, I have my sister and her family here for the weekend. Tomorrow morning I need to go to the quack. When I get all that out of the way, I will PM you and we will sort it, probably tomorrow evening.

Re Hackett, I am thinking about it, but took my son to see him at St. David’s Hall last year. We had a great time, and not sure I want to go again so soon after, but you never know,.

I'm only occasionally getting to your blog/site, Steve, but every time I enjoy reading the reviews and/or interviews I stumble upon. They've led to some musical explorations I wouldn't have come to otherwise. Many thanks, and keep them coming! Beer

Steve, it's becoming a really great blog, very well done! You've put a tremendous amount of work into this and it's really beginning to show. You're a great interviewer, who has elicited some revealing answers and comments. A few weeks ago, I enjoyed the Three Colours Dark interview and this evening, I have gone back to read the Panic Room one. I have just noticed the mention of Mermaid Kiss, which brought to mind a gig in Lydney I attended back in 2008 when MK supported Panic Room when they released Visionary Position. I remember the band were from the small town in Herefordshire I was living at the time and rehearsed in a large shed behind a field of Llamas!

That is really kind of you to say so, thanks Jared. I had thought about doing a YouTube interview or review thing, but the market is a bit overcrowded, I think, with SoT, Classic Album Review, and so on, and besides which people would not want to gawp at my ugly mug. I think I would also be extremely self-conscious on camera, and besides, I like to READ things. I think they are more permanent and something which is on record, as it were. Or perhaps that is just me being a boring old git!LOL

Really interesting story re Mermaid Kiss! With regard to Panic Room & Three Colours Dark, Jonathan, Rachel, and Anne-Marie have been extremely kind in our interactions, and the music is highly recommended to anyone reading this who have not heard them.

Steve, I just ordered "Stop Bloody Bossing Me About" by Letts. I know that this is geared to the English public, but I'm sure there's enough crossover into the American cancel culture to make it worth it, and Letts should be a good read, no matter if there isn't.

Hi Steve. I think you in particular will take a great deal of pleasure from it. Next review, when I finish, by the way, will be All In It Together, a really interesting, and funny, history of 21st century (mainly) British political and social history. There are some gems in that, and you will appreciate much of it.

Thanks for the info, Steve. Sounds like another read that's right up my alley!
