I'd say that The Eros of Frigid Beauty is a kind of Metal version of Gentle Giant. Big smile
I sincerely hope not. Tongue

I gave my vote to Serenity - Fallen Sanctuary (2008). This is some great symphonic power metal album. A hit and miss kind of music for me but this is quite good and the vocalist is excellent.

I look forward to hearing it. How many albums do you know in the poll? I only know three of them (by Leaves' Eyes, Nightwish & Within Temptation). Embarrassed

I know most of these bands and l listened to more than half of these albums. A few are really good, entertaining, some are nothing special.

I plan on listening to all of the albums in the poll - eventually - although in the case of Therion's second album, it's likely to get Consigned to Oblivion again. Tongue

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the fifth Symphonic Metal poll before Theli makes an appearance. Smile

Although Therion's second album is likely to get Cast Away after the first listen, I'm pretty sure I'll like the other 24 albums in the poll. Thumbs Up

Like I said before, I doubt very much if I'll listen to Therion's second album all the way through. I can only take Death Metal in very small doses. Smile

Don't worry about the first 4 Therion albums; they become progressively more accomplished, but they just aren't your taste.... Theli & Vovin are masterpieces, however.

For me, my favourite Therion album is Secret of the Runes. I just find it thoroghly excellent. And I love Viking Mythology... but that alone wouldn't make me love the album if the music wasn't up to it.

If seen besides a couple of tracks (2 and 4), The Eros of Frigid Beauty is maybe closest to Avantgarde-Metal,
especially on the 65-minutes version, I've got, which seems to be the very first one, and then shortened to 55 minutes.
And if the rest of the tracks played in the order 6,7,5;;1,3 then I surely like it. Tongue

Anyway, I'm very glad adding this album to my rather small (30 albums) but very diverse Metal (not Hard Rock) collection, also because it represents other sub-genres than all those my other albums do. Tongue

The third Symphonic Metal poll is on its way, just as soon as I've listened to all 25 albums in the poll. Smile

Many thanks to Cristi for helping me compile this series of polls. Thumbs Up
