I'll include Autumn and Coronatus in the next Symphonic Metal poll, seeing as there are no objections, but I'm still unsure about including Kingfisher Sky, so any other suggestions are welcome.

Coronavirus? wtf?! if a band ever name themselves like that, that would be a very dumb band name.

Fixed it. I still think Coronavirus would be a good name for a Death Metal band though.

it would be in such a poor taste, unless you think death metal musicians are idiots or something, which is not the case.

To be honest, I think all Death Metal bands are in poor taste anyway - like Anthrax for instance, or Napalm Death, or Pestilence. I could go on, so I will:- Cannibal Corpse; Obituary; Entombed; Carcass; Autopsy; Blood Bath; Suffocation. They're all genuine names of Death Metal bands. Need I say more?

I can certainly understand what you mean, and imo there's quite a bit in the whole Metal genre which it's good to be very sceptical/critical about.

It's only just turned Spring, but Autumn is here already. My oh my, how time flies.
2002: Autumn - When Lust Evokes the Curse - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mwySoxpb_UZwPgMqQiZ0q2JfqKqk1AfZo A worthy replacement for Evanescence, I think you'll agree, even if I say so myself.

In a Momentary Lapse of Reason, I just found the perfect Symphonic Metal replacement for Lacuna Coil and the band-name even begins with the same letter of the alphabet, although obviously, I hope the choice of band is no reflection on my personality or dubious musical tastes.

There's only one word to describe Therion's first album and that's Awful Knaufel. Don't waste your time listening to this monstrosity, as there's nothing to recommend it. This Death Metal dirge is as dreadful as it gets and Cristi was absolutely right when he said I wouldn't like early Therion, which reminds me, I need to check out Cristi's profile page again.
1991: Therion - Of Darkness - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lccsCvzkVAH1-mw5X73dWjLRRVuTaq7tI I now need to find a replacement for Therion too.

While I don't like it, not my taste, nor would I describe it as good, I could well imagine many people who are into old school death metal appreciating it.

It's only the second album I've ever given a 1-star rating to, but Cristi tells me Therion get better as they go along. After all, they couldn't get any worse. I just noticed "Of Darkness" is one of Therion's lowest-rated albums on PA, so at least you & I aren't the only two here who don't like it.

You might give their second album a one too (or maybe a two) if you opt to continue at some time. Well, they could get worse for someone who hates Symphonic Metal, but I am confident that it will get better for you, but it might take a few albums in before you start really liking things (I'm no expert but judging by another site). Early Therion is not recommendable to those who dislike death metal and are into Symph metal (and not recommendable per this topic at least). One thing that death metal and symph metal has in common for me aside from the metal aspect is cheesiness, but one is more old moldy, kind of rancid and sour cheese that smells bad, and the other is more like processed cheese. To some both are in bad taste, but I can enjoy both death metal and symph metal, and am not above having some cheese in my diet (especially Stilton, which I know many find quite unpalatable). I would not want to listen to music the way you do (full discographies from beginning to end) when it comes to many bands. Swans is my current fave in PA, and I would have dismissed it had I started from the beginning. I often look into the discography and tend to go with those albums first that the descriptors and reviews indicate that I might most enjoy (eventually I might want to try everything as other music by the band might prime me for new music avenues). Now if you exclude the inventors of symphonic metal, it would be ridiculous. I actually like death metal Therion. Death metal is very hit and miss with me, but early Therion is pretty good and enjoyable for me as far as death metal goes.

It's not that they get better, they have never released an unlistenable album IMO. They have a dreadfully long album in their later career, definitely a chore to go through, but I would not call that album as "bad". Theli (1996) is where symphonic metal came to life.
