The one and only album from the Het Pandorra Ensemble - a little-known band about which little is known. This is Jazz Rock, but not as we know it, Jim. Bizarrely, this sole album is titled "III" even though there are no preceding albums.
Following a two-month-long Krautrock excursion with Jane, I'm back to take a trip down the river with Kayak. The band are led by keyboard player Ton Scherpenzeel and were founded in 1972 in Hilversum - a Dutch town with a name familiar to anyone with an old shortwave radio, as Radio Netherlands has been broadcasting from Hilversum from the 1920'a right through into the 21st century. It's also a popular venue for the Eurovision Song Contest, but one shouldn't hold that against the town. Anyway, after that brief digression, it's worth mentioning there were two distinct phases to the long career of Kayak: they released eight studio albums between 1973 and 1981, and then after disbanding, they got back together again nearly twenty years later in the year 2000, recording a further ten albums. bringing us right up to the present day. And so, let's shine a light on Kayak and let the music commence with their radiant first album.
