The Tourist 2021 6 episodes

BBC drama starring Jamie Dornan (The Fall) . Set mostly in the Australian outback , a man has a 'set to' with a large truck and wakes up in hospital with amnesia. Quite a 'fun' watch , very dark humour but never funny and even quite brutal at times. 7/10

You Season 3 (Netflix)

Disappointingly lacking in the 'fun' of season 2 . Too many episodes to not get very far in the end imo. 6/10

obviously doesn't tally with my feelings at all as I gave it 10/10 lol. I haven't seen anything better this year although The Great S2 may challenge it.
The characters (Succession) are just so good and the story arch is still there. Might need one more season perhaps but the basic point is that Cox's character is the c**t to end all c**ts and he's not going quietly!

Just finished Season 3 of Succession. Not quite on the same level as the first 2 seasons, I found the dialogue starting to grate after a while and same things keep happening over and over - 6/10 for Season 3

Henry Cavill really doesn't has to try too hard either - his main bit of dialogue is "Hmmm", which is used a lot. Good monsters though.

Loved season 1....great fun....with monsters and all...just starting season  2.

Not sure which season this is, but there are 7 episodes. Robson Green is quite exceptional in his portrayal of a 1950's police inspector wrestling with some terrible demons in his past. A lot of people will have this pegged as a gentle police drama set in rural England during the 50's but it's much more than that. Deals with England's terrible attitude (and laws) towards Homosexuality while even touching on the horrible experiences many suffered in Japanese POW camps (think Deer Hunter and you are not far off the mark) . Under the radar British drama at it's best. 9/10
One of my favorites.

The Godfather of Harlem Season 2 2021 (10 episodes)

Yet another quality Starz/Epix production to go with Doom Patrol . Dr Death and The Great. This is set in the sixties during the times of civil unrest and Malcom X ( played brilliantly here by Nigel Thatch). The main character Bumpy Johnson is played by Forest Whittaker who is going up against the mob and trying to muscle in on their drugs business. Paul Sorvino, Chazz Palminteri and Vincent D'Onofrio play the main America/Italian characters and there a portrayal of the real life politician Adam Clayton Powell (played by Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito) seemingly making hay out the civil unrest of the time. Great cast and very interesting stuff, mixing fact with fiction effectively. Watch it if you get the chance. 9/10.

^ apparently , according to my Brother In Law whose a huge fan of the books, they deviated quite a long way from the books early into it. There was a consultant hired to advise and she was not involved after Episode 5. It seems the producers only wanted the characters and not the stories perhaps. For me it's a 6/10 . I found it very 'Meh' and lacking in good dialogue. Needs more banter like Witcher or even GOT. Too stolid and I get annoyed when Fantasy shows make most of the female characters posh English speaking and one dimensional . YAWN.

Finished off The Wheel of Time last night. Overall a satisfactory show, though the end was a bit weak  - a lot more to come in future seasons I expect (14 books in the series). An issue I did have: some of the characters really started to grate on me by the end (but Rosamund Pike was very good if a little 1 dimensional). 7/10

Fortitude (2015-18 - UK): 3 seasons in total. The last season has only 4 episodes though. The first season was very good. And then it turned out to be like a slowly inflated balloon. The ending part was great. Especially the scene before the last one. A rushed ending, but it worked. The Arctic island scenery was just beautiful. The series could be better, or it could be worse. So: 6/10.

I'd been waiting over 20 years for a channel to repeat Blakes 7.  It didn't dissapoint.

BBC psychological drama that's just landed. Excellent cast, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo and based on a book. I enjoyed it a lot and was it hit me emotionally as well. The storyline touches on sexual abuse and how its handled by the police as well as other issues such as controlling partners and dealing with guilt. So much to get your teeth into as well as twisty thriller style plot. Yes it's a bit far out there in terms of the basic premise (which I won't go into) but if you suspend your disbelief you will enjoy! 9/10

Watched the 4th (and last) episode of The Girl Before last night. A really well done series and very good acting. The end was a bit meh though, almost as if they had run out of ideas and thought 'that'll do'. A disappointing ending to a good drama.

Revisiting The Rockford Files on bluray, fun show, as well as Lou Grant which doesn't hold up quite as well but has some good moments.   Re-auditing the original British Kitchen Nightmares, much better than the US version.. and rewatched The Crown, worth it.

Temple 2021 S2

Mark Strong is a very convincing as a deadpan 'underground' (literally) surgeon and an excellent supporting cast including the wonderful Daniel Mays and the Dutch actress who played the Red Queen in GOT (Carice van Houten) . Rhys Ifans also pops up as a very sinister gangster. Just nicely understated enough to retain credibility. Like it and looking forward to S3. 8/10
