Just one listen so far and that is not enough. There is so much going on in it with some influence from King Crimson (Lizard era) but also some jazz and RIO. It's a fun ride for sure. Will easily make my top five of the year , with only Frost* and Glass Hammer ahead but that could change after further listens.

It’s an album that needs a few listenings to get for me. So far it doesn’t strike me as the best of 2021, but who knows.

I agree with half your list. Even so, I think it's an excellent album. I gave it four stars.

Thanks for introducing me to this group. I've listened to the album a few times and also listened to their debut. I'm still undecided about their 2nd album but I'm really starting to enjoy their debut.

I've listened to it three times on the basis of the excellent reviews and I thought it very poor. I would probably give it 2* if I could be bothered to review it.

I gave the album a first listen today. It's a bit early to judge for me, but this one is a serious candidate for the top position of my 2021 ranking, with Ciccada and Big Big Train as the main rivals so far. Its predecessor reached #3 in my 2016 list.

The best Norwegian prog album of 2021 that's not on Rune Grammofon that I've heard.

I don't mean to damn with faint praise, but there's Elephant9, Krokofant, Hedvig Mollestad Trio and not least Sex Magick Wizards to contend with on RG.

After a few more listens I may in fact be putting it at the top of my list. That closer is very moving.

^Seems likely. Though several artists I am particularly fond of are squeezing albums in here before the end of the year. Namely The Physics House Band and Colonel Petrovs Good Judgement. Still feel like Shamblemaths album is a little more rounded.

After several listening sessions, this album keeps growing on me. I must confess being charmed by the female vocalist singing in Norwegian, which is a rariety for me in prog (Jordsjø must be mentioned). Especially in a language/dialect close to me.

^Somebody mentioned they didn't like the vocals. I really think they are wonderful. Which is rare for me.

I listened to two tracks on YouTube. Well not for me ! Old-fashioned music like The Watch, Needlepoint, Agusa, ... And I've found almost twenty post/progressive albums of 2021 that sound fresh and modern (God Is An Astronaut, Soup, Karmamoi, AmartiA, Himmelegeme, ... ).

Came back to say I've changed my mind having listened to this more. It will be high on my list for the year, and higher than any of those I listed in my earlier post. Don't think it'll be number one but it will not be too far off.

I think those who are dismissing this as just retro-prog are missing out on something. It certainly uses that vocabulary, but there's a sophistication and originality at work here that puts it in a different category.
