I think it would be good if our musical journey now went to Spain which has indeed been among my favourite Prog countries.

Something specific about Spanish Prog is that due to the Franco regime (which ended in 1975), it first really began to evolve

in the second half of the 70's.

 Atila  -  Reviure  (1978)

Cai  -  Mas Alla De Nuestras Mentes Diminutas   (1979)

 Canarios  -  Cycles   (1974)

Crack  -  Si Todo Hiciera Crack  (1979)

 Gotic  -  Escenes   (1978)

 Iceberg  -  Coses Nostres   (1976)

Iman, Califato Independiente  -  Iman, Califato Independiente  (1978)

 Lisker  -  Lisker   (1979)

Triana  -  Triana  (El Patio)  (1975)

 Haizea  -  Hontz Gaua   (1979)

 Additional

Amarok  -  Sol De Medianoche  (2007)

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I admit to not knowing a great deal of older Spanish prog, but I love a lot of the more modern artists. Not sure what my top 12 would be, but they would come from this list:

Adrift
Alquilbencil
Altair
Amarok
Blusa
Buensuceso
Cheeto’s Magazine
dCoded
De la Cuna a la Tumba
Eclipse 27
Entropia
Firewood
Fruteria Toñi
Glasswork
Icarass
Iceberg
Jardin de La Croix
Kant Freud Kafka
Kotebel
Magick Brother & Mystic Sister
Maremotus
Maud the Moth
Melange
Manoel Macia
Mohama Saz
Moura
Obsidian Kingdom
October Equis
Ángel Ontalva
Rafael Pacha
Qamar
Xavi Reija
Rivendel
Ro
El Tubo Elástico
Toundra
Turdetans

October Equus - Presagio
Kotobel - Concerto for Piano & Electric Ensemble
Planeta Imaginario - Optical Delusions
Magick Brothers & Mystic Sisters - s/t
Angel Ontalva - Mundo Flotante

I could have filled out the top 10 with other albums from those bands.

Well, as I like four out of the five artists in your list, I had better check out the remaining one that I’ve not yet heard.

It has to be said that whatever Ángel Ontalva puts his name to, it will in all likelihood be very good! I left Seaorm off my list, it occurs to me, and I am definitely looking forward to their second album!

It's fine, Mirakaze, we surely have all different interests, and Escenes is widely considered as one of the Spanish greatest masterpieces.

And there’s another I missed from my list, and that’s disturbing because this is an absolutely fantastic album. It was meant to be the first in a series of releases that continue the story, but I’ve not known of any follow-up, which is a great shame. It looks as if my review remains the only one on PA, which is also a shame, as it does imply that this album is nowhere near as well known as it deserves to be!

The album is Name Your Price on Bandcamp, so please do check it out!
