I was making a prog playlist for sexy time and am looking for some songs to put on it. Right now I have lots of Roxy Music and Caravan.

The last time I had sex to music it was probably a vinyl LP (and she's probably still in counseling to this day...) Songs from the Wood or Standup by Tull?

you had to put this thread in the prog music lounge?!
I hope it gets moved someplace better, like "just for fun" section...

Given the absence of a prog music bedroom, the prog music lounge seems fair enough. I would guess the lounge is probably the next most used room in a house, after a bedroom, for sex. I have to admit I have never even considered whether to play music during sex, let alone which music. It would never have occurred to me that anyone might actually put thought into what is played during their lovemaking activities. Sex has always been somewhat spontaneous for me, so if music is playing it’s simply whatever was playing. And if there’s no music, there’s no music. The only “purpose” music has ever served for me, was giving me a realisation of how long the lovemaking might have been - and it always, for me, feels shorter than it is. But then, things always do seem to go by fast when you’re enjoying them, I guess. In my experience, I am aware of what is playing just before activities commence, but then I have no awareness of the music again until things have reached their climax. In that afterglow, outside sounds begin to make an impression again, and that’s when I realise how much time has actually elapsed. I wonder how much point there would actually be to make a playlist, when chances are you’re not going to hear any of it? But, to answer your question, I’d probably go for some Tool….. 🔧 |

Questions like these only makes me want to suggest the least appropriate songs I can think of - and laugh at imagining how it would ruin everything. So with that in mind, here's ten sexy time prog songs: Secret Chiefs 3 - Welcome To The Theatron Animatronique Magma - Stöah Opus Avantra - Rituale - Ashralem Gentle Giant - Knots Art Bears - The Songs of Investment Capital Overseas The Residents - Laughing Song Comus - Diana Area - ZYG (Crescita Zero) Frank Zappa - Dog Breath, in the Year of the Plague Peter Hammill - Gog/Magog Enjoy!

Prog and sex are two things that aren't often mentioned in the same sentence, maybe a bit of Zappa?

Tooooo tempting and easy to take a cheap shot at you, so I'll abstain. Always preferred making love to music (if only to make her meowings a bit more discreet) The long-standing GF actually loves making love to Hybris and my rearranged (edited) ITCOTCK and a few more like some chamber prog (Penguin Cafe, for ex). I find that Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schulze is also working fine. However, she's not so big on RIO/Avant or any form of metal music (neither am I in this last case). |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

I can tell as much that my experiences are, rythmic music disturb the natural rythm, and something I'm fond of takes too much of my concentration - so, I would avoid that kind of music, unless something there could have positive effect.

^Seriously...Supper's Ready. Mrs JD and I used to play this along with lots of other music in the early days while doing the horizontal boogie on a faux fur rug in a tiny apartment...while her budgie would sit in the doorway of it's cage and watch us. The name of the bird...Lurker. True story. Music has always been and will always be a part of intimate moments. I actually have a couple of mixed CD's that make for sexy mood time.

Why didn't you ask the all-bums? A single song is too short for my sex activities...

For some reason, I think that something by PFM might work. I was thinking like Il Banchetto or Generale.

All right, you're doing well here, after all. Edit: And I guess, Dinah Moe Hum can certainly be inspiring.
