there was a short broadcast of Guy Guden's SPACE PIRATE RADIO on Saturday morning, October 9, to check the new streaming mechanics following the Twitch hack. it was 1 hour & 45 minutes in length. so technically this was broadcast 48 for year 48, number 202. it was a totally improvised show, but not the full bodied 4 hour program normally on Sunday/Monday. so dear friends... HERE is the list of artists heard on the just finished broadcast of Guy Guden's SPACE PIRATE RADIO, show 49 for year 48, Twitch transmission number 203. pre-show artists were Jorge Antunes & Erik Wollo. artists in order were: Public Service Broadcasting & Blixa Bargeld, Station 17, Ulrich Schnauss & Mark Peters, Sonic Research Society, Pete Farn, Casa Das Maquinas, Grand Sbam, Tibetan Miracle Seeds, Ebia, The Electronic System, Floydhead, Agusa, Patrick Gauthier, Emil Amos, Grails, MONO, Rohmer, Bass Communion & Rhinoceros, Velvett Fogg, Il Paradiso Degli Orchi, Michael Bruckner, Public Service Broadcasting, Station 17 & Andreas Spechtl, Manitou (Matt Borghi), Electronic Eye, Albert Brooks, Tony Fisher, Bronski Beat, Walter Wanderley, Francis Decamps, Muslimgauze, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robert Wyatt, Edgar Broughton Band, Vox Redux, Finisterre. most definitely... not your normal wavelength. see you next week, maybe?

^ I'm not familiar with many of those artists mentioned in the last five posts above, but I consider that a good thing, as it means there's still a lot more great music out there just waiting to be discovered.

Hi, Not sure how you can measure that, based on the list and the comments. I can tell you, though, that at least a good 2/3rds of the material Guy plays is SENT DIRECTLY TO HIM either from the artist or the label. AND, not to make fun of things, many of these artists have even done a hello promo for Guy and his show ... and I suppose that is something that is appreciated after 48 years of playing new material and catering to REAL ARTISTS, not top ten listed folks. (Heck, I just gave Guy some 300+ hours of material from 1974 to 1980 on mp3's to give you an idea of the interest and the appreciation of the show.) Your work is good, and fine Dave, but I can not say much for your "promotional" values, specially when you make those comments. BTW, at least one of those artists listed, that was played, was from a new album not even released, that was having many folks excited (on the Twitch chat we can yapp!) ... and that if not enough, one band even did a song for the show!!!!! Yeah ... far out and no kidding! One note, Paul ... I kinda wanted to post on that Ambient/Electronic thing about this show a long time ago ... I am not sure that most folks realize that the German Electronic scene is still ON and CONTINUING even after 50 years, and ... believe it or not ... BETTER THAN EVER. It's really hard for many folks, specially PA oriented that will not even give the show a listen to realize what it is all about, and how much music is in there. I have not even made a list of how many of those are listed here on PA. Too many of them are too new and there is no German Music thread like Damo's on Japanese Music.

Hi, To my knowledge he pays the broadcast royalties, which he had to during his FM radio days (30+ years), and the show, being free, is simply a benefit for the musicians. They know their material is heard, and there are many folks (myself included) that buy a lot of the material that was played. I don't know what else you would want from it ... your music getting sold because it is appreciated! "Royalties" will likely be something that you can only get if you have a contract with a record company. And I do not know what bandcamp or anyone else pays but at least the music is heard and appreciated and the musicians know it. (I don't think that bandcamp is considered a record company, for example!) Certainly better than the old days, when you heard nothing, and one day you got dumped from the "label". We know many bands that had their demise with that, despite many of them even knowing their material was played. At least, now, you have a chance to sell things directly many times and "keep the money" inhouse, instead of panhandling it downtown somewhere, in the rain.
