I strongly doubt that "explained on the web so that it can be found by Google" is any good as a criterion for existence. Counterexamples are very easy to find. "Common" totally depends on what community you refer to. (Sorry I can get annoying when things get philosophical - you don't need to pursue this any further, but if you do, I won't guarantee anything. )

That's cool, provided you don't coin stupid words like "anatidaephobia", the irrational fear that one is being watched by a duck. (Seriously, I just come across this word a few moments ago!) |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Really, that's my favourite word. An irrational fear of ducks. That definition is based on the Gary Larson cartoon methinks. The fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. My wife's nickname was Ducks, and her real name is Anita, so I loved to claim Anitadaephobia. EDIT: Note, his anatidaephobia cartoon was one of his that most stuck with me. Interestingly, or probably not, I was introduced to Gary Larson and first saw that cartoon when I was 19 and working in Australia at the time (as a cocktail bartender at a resort near Cairns). The word "exist" is not exclusively philosophical. "It exists" also means "there is/are". " "Common" totally depends on what community you refer to." - well, I was referring, in this case, to the people of the forum, posting here, I thought it was obvious, my bad. I was done with my complaining...

What about "music exists, genres are artificial"? Referring to the people who post here is weird, given that the discussion started by your not being happy about what they posted.

Reality is but a construct of the metaphysical notion of self, and the self is but an illusory perception of the non reality where we fail to exist . Don't take that seriously.

what about "music exists and we have names for genres and subgenres". There were a few posts that made no sense, I couldn't help it. I already apologized...

^ Well, then, let's do some O is for Oi! (a word my wife uses a lot, which is interesting since my favourite word came up a little earlier)
This oi! is new to moi! (actually I have heard of Oi! but not heard this song) I hope Oink is a genre. If it exists it might use The Fuzz pedals for its guitars. |

I think the real joke here is highlighting the silliness of creating words such as this where one appends "phobia" to the Greek or Latin word for some random object as if such a phobia actually exists. Another thing that gets my goat is weird collective nouns (eg, a murder of crows). |
