Hey all, I've just released a little article of 10 prog albums that I'd recommend from the 10 last years - it's tailored more to newcomers, but tried to include some more esoteric ones in anyway.

Was curious what you guys think of it, and what are your favourite 10 albums of the last decade?? Here's the link for my top 10 and the full article! Smile

I remember you from long ago, an earlier stage of those 10 years. Welcome back!

Anyway, like Grumps, I also have a link in store to such a list. The #1's of my contributions to the AotY lists.

Thanks! I haven't heard that Monobody album yet even though I was very impressed by their most recent release; I'll be sure to give it a listen.

Not too bad, and nice to see iamthemorning (although I think Lighthouse is better) and that Motorpsycho album there.

I love your article (probably more due to the fact that it's near to my own).

Definitely:
5. Seven Impale City of the Sun
7. iamthemorning ~
8. Monobody Raytracing

I could also be convinced to include:
Motorpsycho The Death-Defying Unicorn
6. Steven Wilson -- but Hand.Cannot.Erase. in place of Raven

I like all of your other choices, but would include ahead of them:
2. Homunculus Res Limiti all'eguaglianza della parte con il tutto
1. Bent Knee Shiny Eyed Babies
3. Unaka Prong Salinity Now!
4. Five-Storey Ensemble Not That City
9. Alio Die & Lorenzo Montanà Holographic Codex
10. Axon-Neuron Metamorphosis
or The Amazing Gentle Stream

OK, I bolded my proggy choices on the right.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Not year by year, just ten brilliant albums released in the last decade:
Swans: Leaving Meaning
Dead Can Dance: Dionysus
Tangerine Dream: Live In Reims Cathedral 1974
Univers Zero: Phosphorescent dreams
Bjork: Utopia
Follakzoid: I
Public Service Broadcasting: The Race for Space
Babils: Ji Ameeto
Heliocentrics: A World of Masks
Wobbler: Dwellers of the Deep

PBS and Heliocentrics strangely not on PA, but they are prog enough for me.

The amount of improvisational forms kinda makes them prog-related for me, but I won't fight about it :P
Most important is that's a great album whatever the genre is :)

On the other hand I was taken by surprise seing Swans and DCD on PA. Both bands are totaly no prog for me, but what do I know :)
