I don't know what the maximum number of characters is that enter in a poll space, but in an earlier message I gave a shorter version, hoping it will be short enough: Henryk Gorecki, Symphony n° 3, 2nd mvt. with Zofia Kilanowic Personally, I don't think that mentioning the member names in the poll options is that essential. Especially if/when George is putting up a YT-playlist, I don't pay attention at all to who put up what, but only to the music, and for me the member name doesn't enter into consideration (otherwise I would have always voted for Lewian's suggestions, but I discovered he has some bad taste too... ).

Good thought there, too, re the member name, we've done it both ways, no decisive way has been concluded upon.

I think we came up with a suitable compromise, to make that unnecessary, thank you!

Ouch! I feel your pain brother. I had a portion of a broken knee cap removed when I was 15. Hip to ankle cast for 10 weeks then physio for almost a year to get the knee to fully bend again. One question though...How does he write with his knee?? Get well soon Lorenzo !

I know it can be difficult going through the choices to see what people posted, and hopefully this helps with the others (sorry if I made any mistakes). I'll start with the known ones since only one option was listed or in Cristi's case he made a decision already: 15: Cristi: Dida Drăgan - Să nu lovim nicicînd un porumbel 16: Easy Money: Billie Holiday - "Strange Fruit" 17: Gentle and Giant: Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2U 18: Moshkito: Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention - One More Chance 19: JD: Edith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien 20: Mila-13: Silvia Pérez Cruz - Mañana (to be listed with mine as said earlier, but just for this record) ----- These are the undecided methinks, if undefined by tomorrow, I suggest going with the first track of each: 21: dwil123: Roberta Flack - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Anita Baker - Sweet Love, Gladys Knight - License to Kill 22: tigerfeet: Anneli Drecker - Morning Glory, Maura O'Connell - First You Cry, Angel Snow - Coals And Water or an Annie Lennox? 23: yam yam: Tea and Sympathy - Janis Ian, Sandy Denny - All Our Days (love the T&S song) 24: Progishness: Annie Haslam - Going Home, Curved Air (Sonja Kristina) - It Happened Today, Janis Joplin - Piece of My Heart, Doris Day - Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps 25: MortSahlFan - Curved Air - Lovechild, Illusion - Madonna Blue, 26: Dark Ness: Des'Re - I'm Kissing You, Cassandra Wilson - You Don't Know What Love Is Edited by Logan - June 03 2021 at 18:33 |

^ NO problem, the topic search coupled with Lorenzo's names in the poll options made it quite easy. EDIT: TMI

Thank you so much for your help, Logan. The only part I'm not sure of is allowing a split vote? Not sure if that will matter in creating the new poll, since I can't edit this one. It may just be a matter of my tracking votes as noted for each, though, but I'll see in the morning, once I've had coffee, it's one of those things that must be tackled as a piece, rather than being able to come back to it, as far as setting the poll.

I don't know how many ladies there are in our forum but this theme felt just right for me to introduce myself through music. I can't wait to listen to all the other songs lined-up! |

In that case I nominate: Janis Joplin - Piece of My Heart (my other choices are far too personal to myself).

@Nickie & Greg: Cristi seems to be mentioned twice in your combined lists (n° 10 and n° 15). Does this mean we have 25 possible nominations or did we miss someone? Edit: chopper seems to be missing, but I think he hasn't nominated his choice yet.

Haven't commented yet on the latest suggestions, so here we go, to make it complete:
yam yam: Janis Ian, another great artist, but it's been a while I've heard a song of her... Tea and Sympathy is really a very beautiful song, a wonderful voice, of course, and modest but moving orchestration - piano and strings - to accompany her. Sandy Denny has indeed been suggested before - All Our Days is a great choice, a very delicate song here too underscored by a - somewhat richer - orchestration. However, I think I prefer Janis Ian out of these two. Dark Ness: Des'ree with Kissing You, I remember this one from Baz Luhrman's film. Very soulful and skilled voice, but I'm not a fan of the tremolo, and the song is more romantic than emotional, to my ears. I prefer the delicacy of Cassandra Wilson's song - acoustic guitar and voice, later joined by a violin. Another warm and soulful voice, very much in restraint. Beautiful! Mila: I know Sílvia Pérez Cruz because she contributed music to the beautiful film Blancanieves. Mañana is indeed a great choice for this poll. Very Spanish with the guitar, violin and double bass (I love that) and what a splendid voice she has! Great choice, and welcome to PA! |

Thank you Kees! I'm glad you like my choice. The song is maybe a bit oldfashioned/traditional. I had several options - all of them in languages other than English but I had to decide quickly since there was actually no space left. Thanks to Logan I'm in. I have not yet had the chance to listen to any of the songs but will do so as soon as the poll starts.
