@Logan Thank you for all the info, Logan! It seems that I am meanwhile at 61 points. So I should be able to vote if Lorenzo accepts my song. Edited by Mila-13 - June 03 2021 at 05:51 |

I'll nominate You Can Fall by Broadcast (I'd still suspect that the Björk song, although it technically qualifies, would be known by too many). Too much work these days to comment on individual entries unfortunately. I have heard some and there's some good stuff (I loved the Bent Knee one, that's one thing I remember).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Hello Pollsters, sorry to get your attention like that, but I got word from Lorenzo (jamesbaldwin) that he has sadly broken his knee and it's difficult for him to be writing right now. Please join me in wishing him a speedy recovery. He asked me to take charge of this poll, so I will be opening it in the morning for voting. I will start a new poll topic, just for voting, as I won't be able to access the original poll chart, so look for that tomorrow morning (Friday), in Pacific Daylight Time, sometime between 7AM and Noon. I will work up a list of all of the nominations at the bottom of the original poll and also in the opening post for the new voting topic. I'm sure you all join me in wishing Lorenzo all the best right now, may he be able to rejoin us soon.

@ Nickie Hey Nickie, sad news indeed! Now I understand why I didn't recieve a reply from Lorenzo. I've joined the site yesterday and I was asking him whether I could still join the poll. Logan explained to me how it all works and told me that already all spots were taken but that he would offer me his spot. Now I have no idea what you think about this? I wish Lorenzo a speedy recovery and thank you for taking over! This is my song, in case I get the chance to join the poll:

I'm fine with sharing the space (my preference) or giving up my space (which I am also okay with). I really love your song choice, Mila and want that song in the poll no matter how this works out.

I just realized I had nominated Bent Knee in light of Lorenzo's unfortunate injury. I mean no bad karma.

ATTENTION POLL PARTICIPANTS:
I will open a new poll topic tomorrow to open for voting. In discussions in the Team Members group, it seems that Logan's idea of sharing the space will be an agreeable option to all. I will keep track of the votes in the replies post for the split spot. Here is a list so far of the poll selections, please make sure that by tomorrow morning, Pacific Daylight Time, you have your selections made so I can create the poll. 1) Sade - "Is It a
Crime" (Raff) 2) Katinka - "Idioter" (The
Anders) 3) Charming Hostess - "Laws of Physics"
(TCat) 4) Offa Rex's "The Queen of Hearts,"
(Snicolette) 5) Edda Dell'Orso (Ennio Morricone)
- "Cosa avete fatto a Solange" (Logan) 6) Lau Nau - "Juokse sinä humma"
(Hiram) 7) Helium Horse Fly - Adrift (I prophesy disaster) 8) Lush - "Monochrome"
(Mirakaze) 9)
Ginevra di Marco - "Vedrai Vedrai" (jamesbaldwin) 10) Dida Drăgan - Să nu
lovim nicicînd un porumbel (Cristi)
11) Henryk Gorecki - Symphony n° 3: Symphony of Sorrowful
Songs, 2nd movement, with Zofia Kilanowicz (Soprano) (suitkees) 12) Cara Dillon - The Lark In The Clear Air (Ronstein) 13) You Can Fall – Broadcast (Lewian) 14) Bent Knee – Being Human (mathman0806) Edited by Snicolette - June 03 2021 at 14:11 |

If my space shares an option, both won't fit the poll option as is. I actually wondered whether I should list mine under the composer name or just the singer name (ideally it would be listed as you have). Since it's really about Edda for me, I wanted to highlight her as you have done in the list. Without the user names, "Dell'Orso-Morricone Cosa avete../ Silvia Pérez Cruz - Mañana" would just fit (without the quotes). Or if Morricone does not need to be listed, then Dell'Orso - Cosa avete fatto... or Silvia Pérez Cruz -Mañana would just fit the poll line. If you want the user names then that would require more editing. I don't care about my username being in there, but it might be nice for Mila to see her name listed if others are being listed. SO maybe "Dell'Orso - Cosa...(Log) or Silvia Pérez Cruz -Mañana (Mila)" or better yet, "Silvia Pérez Cruz -Mañana (Mila) or Dell'Orso - Cosa...(Log)", which fits without the quotes. Technicalities, I know.
If keeping the user names, which would help to differentiate, I favour as the poll option: Silvia Pérez Cruz -Mañana (Mila) or Dell'Orso -Cosa... (Log) But tweak as you see fit as there are other options to make it fit. :)

@Logan We've got a 'split spot'! That's good news for me, I guess but I have no idea how that's gonna work in respect of the voting. lol But either way, we are the perfect Latin tandem. Thanks again, Logan!

^ it will be an honour to be in the same poll option line as such a wonderful song, Mila (one of my favourite discoveries in this year-long series of Interactive polls). I haven't listened to all the choices yet so I can't say for sure how I will vote, but I loved your choice (all the more reason why I wanted it in the poll), and this will be the one time I expect to be voting for a poll option that mentions my own nomination. I wouldn't be voting for my own, of course, but for yours specifically.

I had quite a few optinos but I was late and picked one of my recent finds. Ginevra is wondeful and I was not aware of her although I'm a big fan of Italian music. So thank you very much for introducing her!

I will honour your suggestion(s) here, I was thinking about that as well! Also, suitkees' will also likely need abbreviating. Mila-13, I will listen and think upon your addition, and am also hoping we hear from Dark Ness re the one that won't play here in the US.

First take on Mila-13's selection:
Mila-13: Sílvia
Pérez Cruz “Mañana” Oh, how very pretty.
Simple with strings and a lilting, expressive voice. Love the bit of wistfulness in her voice,
will look up the translation after I listen through once first. There is a swell near the end, vocally for
just a perfect moment. The ends, as it
began, with simplicity and elegance.
And, yes, there was wistfulness, reading the translation. Thank you for bringing this here. |

^^ Oh, I know I'm being persnickety here, but I realise that people may not easily link my choice to the video which is titled Ennio Morricone - "Cosa avete fatto a Solange?" due to shortening of the title and because I mentioned the singer rather than the composer who is in the title. The following still fits, and I think most people would link the Ennio name easily while still mentioning the singer as I wish to do for the purposes of this theme. It's quite often credited as an "Ennio Morricone/ Edda Dell'Orso" piece.
So I suggest this if keeping the user names which just fits:
Silvia Pérez Cruz - Mañana (Mila) or Ennio/Edda - Cosa...(L) Edited by Logan - June 03 2021 at 14:46 |
