Bearing in mind what an impossible task it was to choose just one favourite prog album from each year, here's your chance to name your TEN favourite albums from the Prog Archives for each year, starting with 1967. There's no need to list them in any particular order - just choose your ten favourite prog albums from 1967.

Here's my Top 10, which is heavy on the psychedelic... Smile

BRIAN AUGER - Open
THE DOORS - The Doors
H.P. LOVECRAFT - H.P. Lovecraft
JEFFERSON AIRPLANE - Surrealistic Pillow
THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE - Are You Experienced?
KALEIDOSCOPE (U.K) - Tangerine Dream
LOVE - Forever Changes
THE MOODY BLUES - Days of Future Passed
VANILLA FUDGE - Vanilla Fudge
THE ZODIAC - Cosmic Sounds

Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates of Dawn
Procol Harum - Procol Harum
The Doors - Strange Days
The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request

I took nine liberties with my list, as only one was a genuine prog album, although they're all listed on ProgArchives. Smile

I could have sworn they were under proto-prog, Mandela Effect I guess. I'm surprised they aren't since they seem to be very liberal with what falls under that category.

^ It's funny because I thought Velvet Underground were listed here under Proto-Prog too, but I must have been confusing them with Velvet Opera, which is easily done at my age. Embarrassed

I can see why.

If we are being "strict" with the term I'd include The Nice, Procol Harum, Moody Blues and not much else. But if The Doors, The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple, etc are under the category I don't see why VU not, in fact, I'd say the might "deserve" it more than Purple or The Doors.
