It's not as bad as liking Susudio, but close.

Umm...no! You should check the deadwax matrix first and see what pressing you have. You could be giving away a $2K record Shocked. The earliest press I have is a 5th press and that is worth about $100, 1st press A2/B2 or A3/B2 in VG condition with posters and cards is worth some coin!
There are currently over 5500 copies of this album for sale on Discogs. So hardly rare to be fair. 1300 of them being 1973 releases.

Me, too!

I'd never heard a VDGG, Klaus Schulze, Magma or RPI album before 2008! (and I'd never heard of "Post Rock").

I hear ya bro!
Did you see 1600 are CDs Dead.......And yea many of them are krapp pressing from countries like Iceland, Turkey, Lithuania and the like LOL, almost every country pressed it on release. Pretty much all the early US pressings should be avoided until you get into the MoFi releases but those are also uber cash.

If you want 70-75% of the original A2/B2 sound buy the Bernie Grundman 2016 release for $35......If you want 85-90% of the original pay for the 30th anniversary release from 2003 that one runs about $250-300 for NM and more for M sealed. I have both, the 30th I bought 15yrs ago for $25 and is simply stunning version, it easily beats my 5th press from 1977 which I bought in '79 I think. I also have a CD from 1985, an original but is mastered with pre-emphasis so the mix has boosted highs, my newer CD player does not have the filter to reverse the pre, so its crispy.

Part of the magic of this album is its production and mastering from 1973, it remains a staple for showcasing an audio setup. Like the record or not, like PF or not, think PF is prog or not, you cannot argue it's sonic importance and the bar it set in 1973. Are DSOtM LP prices inflated?? Sure they are, but they have been for 25+ yrs...You should not go to your grave without hearing it as it was meant in 1973. I will eventually get a 1973 NM/M release, it's only friggin money and it will bring me sonic pleasure for years.

I have same CD, that's the original US pressing of the CD. I never dumped my records when the CD fad started, I did lose maybe 150 records in house moves, about 4 boxes they say were lost. Sure they were.....Angry

I lost about 125-150 in the purge. Thank God I stopped that insanity. I've been able to buy back about 100 so far, so the collection is really only down about 25-50 from it's original high point. Problem is, they're all the expensive ones (of course). Smile

My confession: I just cannot get into Gentle Giant, VDGG, Soft Machine, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Can, Amon Duul II, PFM, Frank Zappa or Captain Beefheart however much I try, even though they are all beloved of many prog fans.

Karen is one of my favourite (non-prog) singers of all time, along with Dusty - I have the utmost admiration and respect for both of them.

An incredible vocalist but such a tragic story. The first celebrity to die from an eating disorder, as far as I know.

I would rather listen to Abba (inc Dancing Queen) rather than listen to Frank Zappa.

LOL

there are few Zappa albums i like, I've listened to a few that did nothing for me.

ABBA have a few songs that are quite good. Big smile
I am tired of some of their hits, they've been overplayed everywhere. Not bad music though.

Their third (self-titled) album from 1975 has their most interesting mix of musical styles including the odd prog-ish moment (Intermezzo No. 1). I also find Arrival (1976) and The Visitors (1981) very satisfying to listen to.

I also have only one Rush album. Also:

Until just a few years ago, I had never listened to an album by The Who.

I do not have any albums by The Beatles.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I have never listened to a Rush album, let alone owned one.

Also I can only really get into KC's first two albums.
