That's funny, I was just thinking about them today Karen Carpenter had such a great voice!

Another embarrassing prog secret: the only Canterbury Scene album I've ever listened to is the Zopp debut from last year.

My embarrassing secret: I've owned up to 70% of the PA top 100 on a vinyl and I own only 30% now. I just don't like Yes, Rush and most albums of Jethro TUll. I've regained interest in Genesis because of the great remixes/vinyl reissues of 2018. So I guess I'm back to 35% because of that :). Also: the first one to say he/she would love to have Dark Side of the Moon on a vinyl can take mine.
I'm guitarist and songwriter for the prog-related band Mother Bass. Find us at http://www.motherbass.com. I also enter stages throughout the Netherlands performing my poetry.

Jethro Tull suck balls. Only Genesis I can tolerate these days.
Never loved Yes.
Modern Prog bands are delusional.
Modern Prog fans are seemingly KKK members.

Please ban the f**k out of this account. I'm now into Funk and Soul more than Prog. Well after listening to twiddling keyboards and guitars with a ham act-orrr "interpreting" lyrics from the semi-illiterate, I thought it was about time I listened to music that made me feel ALIVE. Put a smile on my face. Put a spring in my step.

The only thing more tedious than UK Prog is UK Punk.
American music does seemingly beat European music. But not their "Art Rock".

I've more sense than money, so enjoy box set after overpriced box set of the junk you used to listen to being endlessly molested by Steve Wilson. And indeed moaning about "Aww, Steve Wilson has ruined it!!". One born every minute.

It's also 2021. The world has moved on. Shave off your silly beards and face the fact we've failed to make a better world.
I do feel like a b*****d making this post, but if I press the back button, I'd just be lying to myself and others.
Apologies for anyone who ever read my posts. But I am just so f**king done with this genre. And even if walking alone, as least I'm stepping towards a future.

Prog Rock? Prog SUCKS!!

It was never proved that Tull sucked balls. That was just a malicious rumour spread by John Peel after Anderson p!ssed in his bran flakes...

There’s nothing to be embarrased about when it comes to music methinks. Are any of you embarrased because you don’t like the taste of lamb/celory/garlic/cucumber/olives?
I just love the colour turquoise but man I feel a little embarrased that I don’t enjoy peeyellow just as much.

The only thing where I can see this making any sort of sense is if you are unsure of yourself and need others to like the same stuff as you do...or else everything is of course lost. That’s where we get phrases such as ‘don’t shoot me but I really love Torman Maxt’.
Dig what you dig....and stop digging before you reach molten rock

I have not listened to Pink Floyd or Genesis in almost 20 years. Or Yes, except for 90125, which was given to me by a neighbor. He also gave me Big Generator, but I passed on listening to that one.

I think you are putting many sub-genres in the same bag. I'm sure you could find many "prog" albums that would make you happy. Personally, I don't like everything in "prog"... even hate some. Also, I don't listen exclusively to "prog". But my favorite albums are mostly under the "prog" genre.

Hi,

I was trying to look for some secrets ... and in my closets I could not even find a single skeleton, even of a mouse!

So, maybe the minute I find one I will let you know ... but the scarier thing for me, is how so many of us ignore music from too many other countries and don't realize that there is so much out there, that (in the end) you don't even have the time to look at your closet!!!

I only have music I love ... no secrets!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I agree! Younger me would have balked, but now I get what they're about; they did a couple of definitive takes of Bachararch tunes, and helped epitomize that Brill Building sound. (Not to mention they covered Klaatu!:) I started to come around on all this after hearing Juliana Hatfield's Olivia Newton John album (which is really great). The world really needs some Hatfield songbook albums on Brill and Bacharach. (Sorry, this isn't prog-related at all;)

Haha no problem! Nothing wrong with putting respect on a generational talent like the Carpenters

Another embarrassing confession: the only Carpenters album I've heard front to back is their Christmas album, but I think it's pretty great!

Sorry for making the Carpenters tangent longer. We're over the edge, as opposed to just being close to it

Umm...no! You should check the deadwax matrix first and see what pressing you have. You could be giving away a $2K record Shocked. The earliest press I have is a 5th press and that is worth about $100, 1st press A2/B2 or A3/B2 in VG condition with posters and cards is worth some coin!

I listen to a lot of punk bands, don't know if that counts.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place

I´m not ashemed of:

1 - I really enjoy A-ha, Morten Harket its a great singer, Pal Waaktaar and Magen are great songwriters, listen their prog band Bridges, its great
2 - I enjoy a lot listening punk music, The Boys, The Damned, Buzzcoks, Stranglers are great
3 - Love Napalm Death
4 - Cant stand bands like Magma, Eskaton, Weirdoje, love the instrumental parts but those vocals!!!!!, cant stand it, love Dun, Zao, Univers Zero.
5 - Except Fragile, CTTE and Relayer cant tolerate Yes.
6 -Power metal bands like Nightwish, Rhapsody, Kamelot are not my cup of tea, only like Blind Guardian.
7 - Dream Theater only with Kevin Moore, the rest of their work bores me to death
