Chromatic Aberration are two musicians from Ohio with a
shared love of progressive rock(especially the band Rush). Steve Chait plays
drums, percussion and provides backing vocals while Joe Rubio handles guitar, bass and keyboards.
While the Rush influence is present at times there are other more diverse
sounds as well. Their debut album also features GADD and Simone Baldini
Tosso(both singing lead vocals on different tracks) and Brett Kull from Echolyn on acoustic guitar on one track. Brett also mixed and mastered the release which
is currently only available in digital form. In Joe's own words: “Inspired by a four day hike of the Inca trail we did together in 2017, the 20 minute title track follows a fictionalized version of a new Inca king undertaking that same pilgrimage to prove himself worthy of the throne. It consists of several movements (and many time/tempo changes!) following his multiday journey until he arrives at Machu Picchu, where his throne awaits.” https://chromatic-aberration.bandcamp.com/ Edited by AFlowerKingCrimson - March 28 2021 at 21:02 |

Did you listen to the whole thing? I actually haven't but it seems there is more than just a Rush or heavy vibe throughout. A lot of neo prog is heavy too anyway even though I don't think this is neo.

Hi Rivertree,
I noticed that the release date for 'The Trial of the King' was listed as 2020. Could you correct that to 2021? Thanks!

They're clearly very accomplished musicians but readily acknowledging your influences doesn't make you any less derivative for that. Well preserved 2nd hand Prog certainly and a shoo-in for PA but this is tantamount to a Rush/Yes tribute band who do all their own material. Plus they've got a really w.a.n.k.y name
