The ones I like a lot are David Gilmour's first album, Is This The Life We Really Want, Wet Dreams, and Mason Live at the Roundhouse; won't vote for the latter as it's not original material.

The most original, fresh and enjoyable material in my view is on Fictitious Sports. On top of that it has Robert Wyatt singing.

Why aren't the best and worst solo albums in the choice list?

Best: The Final Cut
Worst: A Permanent Lapse Of Reason

I haven't heard them all so no vote. I do really like the first David Gilmour solo album though.

It's got to be Amused to Death for me (though how I wish the rest of Floyd had been with him to help him get it to the next level). I still don't understand so much love for Gilmour's first album... I mean, I do like it, but I don't really think it's something particularly special (it might just as well be my least favourite of his solo albums). My favourite from Gilmour would actually be his last one, which I happen to like much more than Waters last one too. Wright's both albums were very nice albums too.

I tend to agree. Roger's ATD and Rick's Broken China could have been terrific band projects, and likewise I'm not too smitten with any of DG's solo stuff.

If they were included, Lapse of Reason would be my vote for favourite solo album! 😜

Amused to Death just edges out Fictitious Sports (even though it's really a Carla Bley album). Then a gap to Pro's and Con's. All the rest are nowhere :-(

Ok, more seriously, I'd like to retain Gilmour's debut Wright's Wet Dreams, Roger's AtD and Life We Want for top spot

.

A sole vote for Barrett.
Love that Nick Mason's albums have been included as
aaaarrrgghh GIVE ME A LIE FOR A LIE!
GIIIVVVEE ME A TRUTH FOR A TRUTH!!!

Is the catchiest thing on any of their solo albums.

Am I one of the few missing the appeal of 'Amused to Death'? I always considered it overlong and boring to death but it gets many votes here and generally positive reviews from critics. Confused

Amused is fun for a while but gets dragged down in the concept and overproduction - as always with Waters, some though-provoking concepts so weighted down with production effects (that whole Marv Albert sequence....sheeesh!).  It's part and parcel of his entire solo career - never a bad album but always so heavy.

My favorite is the Carla Bley album Fictitious Sports - Nick joined a groovy band and they made a quirky pop album!  Maybe the least Floydian of any of the solo albums, but a really fun listen......I still wish they'd have done an extended Bley composition but they kept things pretty streamlined.

And with vocals by Robert Wyatt, it's as close to a Soft Machine/Pink Floyd collaboration we ever got.

You forgot the "They all suck" option LOL

Seriously, i've listened to my fair share of them and i don't find any horrible but not very exciting either.
