As those of you who read the award-winning PA Birthday Thread will know (it was awarded best intertit thread for keeping my husband quiet and out of my hair for at least an hour a day award by Mrs Laz), today would have been the birthday of our founder, Ronald Couture, or ProgLucky.

I have asked Admin to amend his account to “In Memoriam” status to reflect his passing in 2017.

We have two very much loved “In Memoriam” threads here on PA, one to Febus, and the other to Slartibartfast. In my opinion, it would be nice if we had one dedicated to the chap who started all of this alongside M@X.

My idea is to rename the Suggest New Bands thread after Ronald, given the huge amount of work he put in to add bands and artists to the database.

What do you all think? Better ideas more than welcome. I will collate responses and email Admin in, say, a couple of weeks.

I agree with this as well, and not to take away from his vast contributions to the site, but as far as I understood at the time, 'added by Prog Lucky', was a default setting in the early days of the site, at least that is how it was explained to me by admins who left the site a while back. It really doesn't matter though, his contributions to the early days of the site were notable.

I am all for it. What would we like it changed to?

1. ProgLucky's Suggest New Bands and Artists Forum

2. Suggest New Bands and Artists - ProgLucky's legacy

3. Something different?

I rather like option number two, or Steve G’s suggestion.

Option #2 would be very appropriate indeed.

His profile has been modified.

I can't guarantee anything on the suggestion subforum.

I have a copy of his 2006 self-published book Essential Mini-Guide to Progressive Rock, Past & Present. I think he made a post about the book on the forums at some point around the time I joined the site. It's hard to remember exactly; it was so long ago and back then I didn't spend that much time around here so missed some of the early history of the site.

If the subforum can't be changed, perhaps an appropriate "In Memoriam" or "In Dedication" post can be made in that subforum and pinned to the top that dedicates it to him?

I like Number two as well but maybe with a wee tweak. How about...

Personally, I like legacy better than in memoriam or memorial.
But that's just me.

We can see on countless album pages:
Thanks to ProgLucky for the addition
and to <nickname> for the last updates

My teammate Julien (projeKt) has a mighty tool for making changes on album pages in semi-automatic mode.
If the idea will be approved, we can ask Julien to replace texts on all such album pages with something like
Thanks to ProgLucky (In Memoriam) for the addition
and to <nickname> for the last updates

What do you think?

^nice idea, but not at this time.

After discussion, the "In Memoriam" tag will remain on his profile. However, no further action will be taken at this time.

I do not know a single thing about ProgLucky.

Can someone clue some of us in regarding his legacy here and elsewhere?

Thanks! Smile

Yeah, I think the 'About Us' page should have a little more history and background about the site and Rony and Max.
