Over many rivers there are many bridges. As my avatar shows, Roxy Music is my eternal love (I got into them BEFORE they released their debut!) but in the 'troubled waters" years (1977 to 1983 were arid years to say the least, progwise), I survived on Ultravox, Magazine, Simple Minds, John Foxx , the Fixx, Yello, Gary Numan, Japan, the amazing New Musik, Aha , Patrick O'Hearn and many many others too long to list, to keep my faint prog vibe afloat. These semi-pop bands had sublime vocalists as well as top notch musical geniuses.  And then the phoenix rose , sorry to say this but it's undisputedly thanks to NEO bands like Marillion, Pallas, IQ, Pendragon and a few others) that got the prog train back on track and rolling.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

There many fine "neo-prog" bands , just like in any other genre, no more , no less. If you 'no like", go to what you do like and smile ....
That is probably the best post yet.

Some people like different things. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't like all neo prog. I find some of it derivative and not very exciting. Also, some of it barely even sounds like prog much of the time(I won't mention names though).  The main  reason I like it as a whole is because of the keyboards. I find that typically many of them are influenced by symph prog bands where the keyboards play a major role in the sound.

Admittedly, I wasn't a big fan of Neo Prog either, but that was before I heard the amazing sound of IQ. Thumbs Up

I seem to like quite a few bands labelled as Neo from approx 2000 onwards, but nothing much before that floats my boat. There is music within PA from the ‘80s that I enjoy, but none of it is from within Neo, and most is only Prog Related.

But based on what I like after that initial wave of Neo, it would appear I appreciate Nu Neo? 🤪

But there’s no way I’d ever dump on any music, or the people that enjoy it. We all enjoy different things, and just because something isn’t my preference isn’t enough reason for me to be insulting about it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks. I like Pallas too. At first, I thought IQ sounded too much like Marillion, but in The Wake of listening to all of IQ's albums, they broke down my Resistance to Neo Prog. I realised IQ are a whole lot better than Marillion and that they're one of the best Neo Prog bands Ever and I'll be listening to their albums with increasing Frequency from now on.  Smile

You need to work harder to fit Nomzamo into this.  It may take some time.  Are you sitting comfortably?

I'd like to start a thread about Creedence Clearwater Revival, and than revive it later. Tongue

you missed the point.

The premise of the thread is antagonistic in the first place and the thread gathered some negativity, the OP didn't come back to monitor things a bit, after all he created it. Confused Possibly to create some drama...
