I'll bet you've at least heard of him though. Wink

Yes I have his third album and I don't like it. Seems to be his lowest rated so I guess I picked the wrong one to buy.

interesting as I never thought of it that way , but yet agree. Eloy had a great run of albums from Dawn through to Time To Turn.

I only know one other album on the list - Spartacus , and I don't like it at all.

Grobschnitt's is my choice.  I love Eloy by that one is IMO the weakest between "Dawn" and "Time to Turn", though it's still good.

The 14 minute opening track meanders a bit at times but over all it's still a very good album imo. Of course there's also the issue of Frank's accent but to be honest it never really bothered me that much.

I like his voice during their peak period, accent and all.  It's dreadful now on those Joan of Arc albums but the music is almost as bad so...

The final results are as follows:

1. Grobschnitt - Solar Music Live ( a really great album that despite winning this poll still deserves more attention). 10 votes

2. Triumvirat - Spartacus 9 votes

3. Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra (considered to be one of the best Italian prog albums of all time) 8 votes

4. Eloy - Silent Cries and Might Echoes 7 votes

5. The albums listed by Banco, Pulsar and Gnidrolog are all tied for fifth place with three votes each.

These would probably all make very good starting points for those not familiar with lesser known 70's prog (including myself).
