Hi, Sorry ... but that list is the biggest pile of trash I have ever seen ... the person putting it together obviously is upset that the "songs" are not formatted properly and are not a hit. That list, actually, would fare better as a "progressive music" listing ... even if the idiot had never heard any of it, which I can not say he/she did at all ... "Dance of the Lemmings" is not weird, and the inside picture tells you all and the music stands out ... because it is not "based" on the "known" effects and formats used in radio and top of the pops ... and on top of it ... it makes fun at our own look at things ... opens a door, and all we can say is that it is weird ... and it isn't ... we intentionally STOPPED and closed the ability to learn and find out what it was all about. .... even more so, when "you" are not the pilot of the trip ... which is shown in the flaring out of the double LP inside cover. It gets really sad when people think things are weird just because someone said so, not because they heard the albums! I have heard and appreciated all the albums listed, and in fact, I have to look but I think I have 6 of them, maybe 7!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Mike (Silly Puppy) clearly came out with that list himself -- the one you should be directly addressing -- talking to rather than about. Calling him an idiot and making claims (the kinds of generalisations you often pull out) that I bet you cannot adequately support is not okay. I have issues with the list, partially because I think it would be better termed, 50 Albums I find Weird (rather than weirdest), but that doesn't mean that I would resort to name-calling or making unverified claims about the person. We have rules against insulting people and if that not being his list is not obvious to you, then you are not paying attention as he even said "Check out my 60 Weirdest albums list on RYM", which you edited out purposefully. This is an official warning. Edited by Logan - February 05 2021 at 09:38 |

Another weird one for those of you interested in those listed in the poll would be the two Bubblemath albums. The first one particularly is incredibly weird when it comes to lyrical content. Disturbing as well. The second is probably a more consistent work overall, though the lyrics comment more on society. Either way, musically, quite adventurous and unexpected upon first or even second or third listen.

From the list, Comus. A little disappointed to not see any Residents (any of their albums would fit on this list and I would have included Not Available). White Noise was another I thought of, but it is not my list - just mentioning these titles for those who are looking for weird and don't know them.

"Orgasm" by Cro-Magnon from 1969 is definitely one of the weirdest albums ever. Here an example track: |

Ah, our favorite user whose name perfectly represents an infested swamp. Wow. I just heard this John ZOrn album for the first time today. This very well may be one of the weirdest albums i've EVER heard and that's saying a lot since i sniff out weird like dog treats. |

The reason it's called WEIRDEST ALBUMS is because it's a joke. It's a parody of MOJO magazine's top 50 weirdest albums except that i'm replacing the choices with my own and of course it's my OPINION. If i were to do a "normal" list then of course i would say MY CHOICE FOR WEIRD ALBUMS but that's not very WEIRD, is it?

Yeah, sorry about failing to mention that. I had noticed that you were riffing on the other list before.

You're right, it was definitely unintentional weirdness. |

Before there was The Residents, there was this demo album sent to Warner Brothers. WB sent it back to them and since there was no name attached to the demo, they addressed it to RESIDENTS. Hence, their name. This is now been re-released in modern times because I guess their own discography wasn't already weird enough.

I bought this LP at a student townhouse end of year moving sale. I think I paid $5 for it. I just really liked the cover I haven't played it in over 45 years without a lie. It deserves at least one more play before I shed this mortal coil. |

I love how you phrased this, because that's basically what I consciously embrace now, lol. I look for stuff I can't hear immediately; it's the most rewarding. Gorguts Obscura sounds like a beautiful ballet of dissonance to me now, versus just a wall of noise. I have a theory that "building" those synapses makes you notice/appreciate other stuff in less-dense music, as well! Neuroplasticity?
