Mine is definitely Dün - Eros. I just like intricate vocals.and xylophone playing. It has that Frank Zappa vibe to it.

Don't know all the albums, but Trout Mask Replica is the weirdest album I've ever heard.

Nothing touches
Except this comes close to the beauty-via-dissonance (not on poll): |

Good choice for the Gorguts album. If we are going to be adding avant-garde metal, I could've added Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante to the poll list. |

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

If we're going weirdest, I would think of a couple other Zappa entries before Absolutely Free (though that one is certainly up there). We're Only In It..., Thing-Fish, Ship Arriving..., and Joe's Garage come to mind first. Sheik Yerbouti, Uncle Meat, and Live in NY would come up at some point too... and all the works with Flo & Eddie... and... well, most of his discography really...

Oh Captain my Captain!
That was easy Funny how some albums start out completely impenetrable...and then after a good day of listening on repeat...small melodies appear and I started out peaking through ‘the looking glass’. That’s not to say that it’s for everyone..not even slightly. It will always remain an album most folks detest and like to cut down. That can however also be the mark of true genius. Another wonderfully strange album I thought of whilst reading this poll is Geinoh Yamashirogumi’s Osorezan: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D5iLT7qalJc |

Trout Mask, hands down. Not enjoyable by most Symph Prog fans but it's easily the weirdest. Just as Dr. Wu.

Trout Mask just over Zappa (although Dun is just on the edge).

My personal favourite is Sing to God!
But as for the weirdest...probably Trout Mask Replica. Too bad The Shaggs aren't in this list

My favourite is not necessarily the weirdest, so hard to answer. I do love most of those albums. Favourites are Comus - First Utterance, Cardiacs - Sing to God, Dün - Eros, and Faust - s/t.
I'll give it to the mighty F.U. even though I don't think it's the weirdest of these despite being weird in its own unique way in the list. Cardiacs would be the band that gets the most playtime from me, and I love Sing to God. One of my most recent topics was a Dune poll, which was mostly an excuse to bring up Dün. Eros was an early fave album of mine when I was deeply diving into music listed at this site before I joined, and I have listened to it again in the last two weeks. |

Out of this list, I would say Trout Mask Replica, but if it was up against the pre-Resident's WB album, I would put that one as the absolute weirdest album.

Hi,
Poor listing in my estimation, but I can't blame the OP for not knowing more material. Some oddballs ... White Noise - Electric Storm in Hell Brainticket - Cottonwood Hill Ultima Spiaggia ... Heck, one could even add Aphrodite's Child 666 ... for one of the strangest albums that so many "progressives" can listen to past one cut! And to hear Irene Pappas ... well, she ain't no Madonna or Brittany or Taylor ... faking their excitement to teenagers that would not know the difference!
|
||
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
