He’s referring to the cat in your avatar as a sort of word play. Forum humour is so hit or miss, and in my case mostly miss. To err is human; to purr feline.

I wish I’d added “Rowrrrr”, lets not get the claws out. I like a little feistiness. :) Humour is a funny thing. It is thought to be an adaptation that could bring people closer together as tribes, and it can be a great icebreaker, but it also can be used to “other” and wound and make things much icier. And of course it is often misunderstood (sometimes that’s due to language and cultural differences, personality, clarity of expression). I grew up with friends who would rib each other and to others it might have seemed cruel. I made what I thought was an innocuous joke with someone at a bar and he threatened to bash my head in. I thought about joking back, then thought better if it. Trying that retort as a humorous icebreaker might have led to a head breaker. He was lucky, cause I know Kung fu from watching Bruce Lee movies. I do get a little down sometimes when my jokes fall flat, by the way. My son, for instance, hates puns, well at least my puns, and when I make one he leaves the room. I have to admit that I do it though sometimes cause I’m embarrassed because I can’t understand the concepts he is sharing (often involving mathematics and physics) and so have nothing intelligent to say. Kids these days.... sheesh. In my day we didn’t focus on maths and science, we played Atari and would play fun games like who can hold their breath the longest without passing out. I passed out and thereby lost. And who can stare at the sun the longest. Don’t do it, I damaged my eyes, but I won! And I guess in the end that’s what really matters (excuse any typos, hard to see what I’m writing). By the way, sorry if it seems to any that I shouldn’t have stepped in when the question wasn’t asked of me, but I got used to doing that when I was a more active mod to try to alleviate friction. One might say that it shouldn’t be my concern, and that’s a pretty good point. Sometimes a mod might make themselves a lightning road and a source of ridicule to diffuse others possible tensions and to keep things light. Well, being a source of ridicule comes naturally to me. I should have been a clown working for masochist parties. This is all rather self-indulgent. It’s rather late here, and unfortunately I am sober, or at least quite sober. Agreed with Pardo about their first five being their best (the MKII line-up never clicked with me)
I would've made an exception in ranking (high) the Edmonton live album, though BTW, BJ Wilson was very under-rated as a drummer. |

^ The symphonic compilation album "A Long Goodbye" is still a Procol Harum album, even though Pete Pardo didn't include it in his list. As to Pete Pardo's rankings, they've become very predictable now, as I've noticed he *ALWAYS* rates the classic albums higher than the more recent releases, unlike my rankings, where The Prodigal Stranger is one of my favourite Procol Harum albums although, as Pete Pardo mentions in the video, they've never made a bad album. At least Pete Pardo & I agreed on the album rankings for Novum & The Well's on Fire.

Wrong. They did make a bad album: The Prodigal Stranger.

Not predictable, but obvious. For any band the classic work will be ahead of later days. I can't think of a single band that did something later in their career that tops their classic works.

I know you'll disagree, and that's fine, but Yes produced some of their best albums in their later years, including Talk (1994), The Ladder (1999), Magnification (2001), Fly from Here (2011), and dare I mention it again, Heaven & Earth (2014).

I'm planning a Top 7 albums poll for Procol Harum sometime soon, although I have a feeling The Prodigal Stranger isn't going to Shine on too Brightly in the poll.

For me, The Ladder is on the same level as Union, both uneven, some good songs and some filler. Talk is good but does not come close to the two 80s albums with Rabin. Magnification is good, but far from classic Yes (1969-1977) The rest of them you mention are unlistenable (to me).

^ At least we basically agree on Big Generator, Union & Open Your Eyes being three of our least favourite Yes albums.
