Is "The Real Thing" supposed to be "Eleanor Rigby"? Just trying to track what I've added to the all videos playlist.

Speaking of which, that Rebecca Black song feels like some kind of stain. Tongue It is pretty bad.

I added it as The Dark Elf's selection. However, if either of you want to change your nomination, please feel free to do so and post it here.

Second bunch of songs.

Seņor Coconut - The Robots
This is quite a fun one, especially the intro. The style fusion works surprisingly well. Very enjoyable.

Annie Haslam - Ripples
I am a little indecisive about this one. It's a nice enough cover, but mood-wise it is not very different from the original, except it is much shorter.

Placebo - Running Up That Hill
However much I would like to appreciate Kate Bush, I can't get into it. Something about the sound and her voice puts me off somehow. In terms of soundscape I find the Placebo version much more intriguing, but composition-wise I am still not a fan of it.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
This one I knew all too well. While it is undoubtedly a competent cover version, I still prefer Bob Dylan's original version; it's "nakedness" fits the mood of the song much better I think. Then I have to admit I am not that much of a Jimi Hendrix fan (my favourite song of his is probably "The Wind Cries Mary"). Perhaps it's just that he has got way too many imitaters.

Chris Cornell - Billie Jean
The clip in the playlist is blocked in my country, so I am listening to a version on Spotify. It is this version, right?: http://open.spotify.com/track/3t4p9vIhemAhCMr6hfL2pa?si=pQcZqqNNQRm8-e9qhmclCA
Unsure of what to think of it tbh.

Yes, sorry Embarrassed. I had "The Real Thing" on my mind for some reason when I was thinking back to what I had posted... possibly because I had posted it recently in another thread.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

You're saying this about Kate Bush in general, right? I'm a massive Kate Bush fan, but Running Up That Hill is surely not high on my list. Have you checked out Breathing, or Sat in your Lap, or the B-side of Hounds of Love? There's many more of course...

^ I admit I am not that much into it. I am listening to "Breathing" now. Composition-wise I like the verse better, the chorus not so much. Still not a fan of the singing voice.

Late to the party.. but that is my life...

covers..I'll toss off 3... IMO the best covers make the song their own.. and that usually means they are not straight up covers but rearrangements. Joe Cocker was the flat out master of that...

so I suppose the most covered song of all time was Something...  but what was #2? No clue.. but probably Louie Louie.

so for my first choice.. I nominate not a cover..  it is me .. I don't like rules as Raff is well aware of

I nominate an original that smoked the 1000's of more famous cover versions that followed it..

100's of artists have done cover albums.. albums of covers.. but NONE touch the single best album of covers ever done. The only albums of covers to be on anyone's greatest albums of all time lists.

Not just paying homage.. but .. making the songs their own by putting their unique stamp on them.

but my choice...

the unappreciated and absolute master of rearranged covers... and bringing it back home to the fab 4...

I was specifically talking about Manfred Mann's Earth Band. The group led by Manfred Mann that followed after his 60's band broke up. I have heard some of the 60's stuff too. It is interesting trivia about the Bob Dylan songs.

Earth Band started in 1972 or so ...

I nominate this version ... Peter Sellers' A Hard Day's Night. I think it's a satire on Lawrence Olivier ...

Even funnier is this:

And if you have never seen the ending of BEING THERE ... you are missing Sellers at his best ... during the credits.

Happy to see you Micky!

so mine smokes yours...  no one f**ks with Ramsey Lewis especially a dive bar with a bunch of half naked drunk as hell women losing their sh*t and throwing undergarmets at the drummer...

Unsure of what to think of it tbh.

Well, it's not exactly the same.  That version on Spotify is the studio version and unfortunately, it isn't as good.  I heard the live version even before that album version was released and was disappointed in the way it ended up sounding once they got their "studio" polish on it.

Here is a more recent live version of it that's probably closer to the post than what the studio version is, unfortunately it's not the same, but you can try it at least and see if it works.

Raff, if you need more songs to fill up the empty spaces, go ahead and put in my Suzanne Vega posting ("China Doll/Cassidy"), unless someone has any problems with my having two entries on the voting list.

there have always been empty spaces.
We've got 16 songs for now which is great.
Is there anyone without a final nomination?
