I already added the points from your previous vote at the same time as not counting your vote for King Crimson.

^ That's okay. I don't think you were here on the forums at the time when I originally posted this thread at the end of February.

Interesting looking back at this. No need to change the votes, but this is what my list would look like five months later: 1. Close to the Edge by Yes 2: Selling England By the Pound by Genesis 3: A Drop of Light by All Traps On Earth 4: Moonmadness by Camel 5: Leftoverture by Kansas 6: In the Region of Summer Stars (1984) by The Enid 7: From Silence to Somewhere by Wobbler 8: Emerson, Lake & Palmer by ELP 9: To Shatter All Accord by Discipline 10: The Flower King by Roine Stolt If I had my way about genre classifications, though, I'd have to knock Roine Stolt off the bottom (sorry Roine, nothing personal) and put Big Big Train's English Electric: Full Power up at third.

A Drop of Light and English Electric are both very special to me. One is 'Symphonic' and one is not (imo)

I've only recently become active on here after a long hiatus. It's probably your enjoyable and ingeniously recycled polls that get me most engaged so thanks for that!

Can you have albums drawn in second place? (Or any place, for that matter?)

Yes, it often happens that two albums tie for the same place in a poll, just like in my recent Genesis albums poll for instance, where Foxtrot & Selling England by the Pound were briefly tied for first place.

Thanks. I also have a Top 10 Crossover Prog and a Top 10 Prog-Folk albums poll lurking around in the ProgArchives forums somewhere. I had to go back to Page 6 to find this Symphonic Prog poll again.

Ok, then. 1. Duke (does it count as symphonic, though, or just weird prog/pop/jazz/weirdness??) 2. Selling England and Foxtrot 3. CTTE 4. Tarkus 5. Fragile Sorry, not going beyond that! It's too hard!!

^ By the way, I mentioned in the introduction to this Top 10 poll that you can only choose one album by each artist for your Top 10.

Not sure I really understand what Crossover Prog is , but I'll find the Prog Folk one and vote in that.

Just click on "Crossover Prog" on the main page and then you'll see a list of the Top 100 albums in that particular genre.

Edit: 1. Duke 2. CTTE 3. Tarkus Sorry about that. I've just noticed I've only included albums by the three probably most successful symphonic bands, so I've managed to extricate a few more albums (by lesser known bands) that are better than the usual lot: 4. Mirage (Camel, though still quite well known) 5. Snow (Spock's Beard) 6. Garden Shed (England, discovered them courtesy of Psychedelic Paul ) Hm... no, that's it. |

ALL TRAPS ON EARTH - A Drop of Light (29 points) There are three new entries in the Top 10 after that latest long update:- Wobbler, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes' Tales from Topographic Oceans. It gave me a headache sorting out the many entries for the latest Top 10 update, so I'm going to lie down in a darkened room for awhile now. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - August 14 2020 at 01:33 |

There's some great bands missing out from the list above due to it only being 10. I could easily have gone Focus, Refugee, Transatlantic, Echolyn and Kansas if I could have named more bands.

You're right; A Drop of Light has a lot of Zeuhl influence on it .
