Probably their debut S/T album, and it’s a very good first album.

I've never understood the love for Time and a Word, whereas I really enjoyed their first album, even though it wasn't all that original.

I have never liked "I've seen all good people"... just drags on and on and on... too repetitious.

The Yes Album , feels like an album that's having an identity crisis. Howe was adding genius but it was still dragging in places.

btw its a little strange to include Relayer and not TFTO. I guess that was to avoid to the usual magnet for negativity.

Easily the debut out of those mentioned, even tho I still find it pretty good.
I like Time and a Word quite a lot - and the other 4 in the poll are my favourite 4 Yes albums

The debut is very weak compared to what came when howe and wakeman joined....

no, it was a mere oversight by me. maybe unconsciously though because I totally dislike the remastering of "Tales from Topographic Oceans". remastering to get a better sound is fine with me, but when the actual music that was played is changed (sometimes drastically too) it turns me off

It was a good oversight IMHO because it would probably attract most of the votes LOL.

I still would have voted for "Relayer" even if "Tales from Topographic Oceans" had been included in the poll. We'll never know now if the TFTO album would have "won" this poll if it had been included. Smile

I like them all but I'd probably rank Time and a Word at the bottom of this list. It's still a 4 star album for me though

The debut has some really strong material that I enjoy to this day!  Yes album remains a classic, I still enjoy it from time to time.

That was my vote since TFTO wasn't a possibility

Micky:
I'd agree that GFTO is fairly weak: if it wasn't for Awaken in there, it'd be their weakest album to date. Not that Tormato or Drama wouldn't have bettered it

The first one but it's still a very enjoyable album. TYA is my favourite overall. T&AW is on my top 5, I have a soft spot for those orchestral bits.

I don't really know how to vote on this one. Fragile and CttE are my absolute favourites from Yes, so they are out of the vote for me. And Relayer has Gates of Delirium (though I much prefer the Symphonic Live version). The Yes album is a strong candidate, since the only song I really like there is Starship Trooper, and I also much prefer the live version of it, on Keys to Ascension... but if I don't consider voting for Relayer because of GoD, I guess I shouldn't vote for TYA either. So, I guess it's got to be Time and a Word, even if I do like the title song well enough (once again, specially live, on Keys to Ascension). By the way, on the debut the one song I love is Harold Land... vastly underrated / overlooked song as far as I'm concerned (as much as I dislike the overrated / underrated concepts).

Least favorite...the first one.........,Astral Traveller saves Time and A Word for me.
And it amazes me that people don't like The Yes Album..one of their best....and for me Starship Trooper is sim-ply one of the finest things they ever wrote....period.

The Yes Album. I like it, but it's never been in my favorites list.

Starship Trooper is great but most of the live versions are better than the studio version.
