Completed my 'first impressions' post on page 4.

Regarding Meltdowner's pick, and my comment about Spider-man here's the little video (this thread could not be complete without this iconic and superb music intro, I think Tongue):

^That was a definite after school favorite of mine growing up. I'll add the Ramones's cover of the Spider-Man theme.

Since we can nominate artists who are on PA, I'll go with New Trolls' "Black Hand".

I think I'm going to go with "Daktari."  It is so different and so tres 60's tv.  I'll go put an exclamation point dealie next to it, if that helps you spot it (it's on Page 1).  Glad your tough week is over!  On second thought, I won't, as I put all three on the same post and it doesn't have that option.

Really tough for me, I tend towards the lovely more often, but this was just fun.

Hi,

Ohhhh fudge you tarts!

The Pink Panther Theme -- Henry Mancini ... and if you have never heard the soundtrack albums after the 1st film, you missed the various improvements on the song each time ... better and better!

I did like the opening of BABYLON 5 with music by Christopher Franke (ex TD), however after a few nice setups, the direction of most episodes misused the music so bad that it became impossible to actually appreciate it. A couple of episodes allowed music to fly some, but they never knew when to stop it, without killing the music ... just cheap and senseless TV crap otherwise!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

As I wrote before, I go with Irmin Schmidt. Logan has a version that should work everywhere on p.2.

My nomination hasn't changed, it's still the first one I mentioned on page two by the composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer called "Lucidity Gone" from Utopia (series/season two).

EDIT: Note, if you are only listing the show name, then you might want to list mine as Utopia 2 in the poll options (the "2" meaning that it's the second series or season depending upon where you reside).

Verano Azul... have tons of love for it, from my tenderest infancy (I've seen it recently and it is fantastic). And I love the music & intro.

Captain Future's and Robotech's music is priceless to me..  I mean, objectively, for TV. They're sci-fi -ish, that I love, but also kind of progressive to me at the same time. In the case of Robotech, orchestral also. Love them. Adding He-Man too; and to a lesser degree, Sankuokai (I like very much that sort of dark 'progressive sci-fi -ish disco' thing, as in Capt. Future and Sankuokai). But they're sort of 'classics'.

So let's go with something more conventional that some of you already liked to some degree and that is also a bit more "recent": Band of Brothers.

Also, as I said, I saw it recently (two months ago) and it left us greatly impressed. I remembered from the first time I saw it that the music was fairly good..  but not that good as I found it now  Tongue  (maybe the 'age-well' effect, while other things that keep coming not that great; (I like almost exclusively older stuff  Big smile) and/or the effect of time in oneself perhaps (...or maybe I was 'wrong' the first time and/or the series didn't moved me as of now). The series... nothing that hasn't been told: extremely beautiful, a giant tribute in itself, delicate, excellent, moving, historically accurate, a great cast and technically superb!

The music is by Michael Kamen (reading the Wikipedia, among many things, he collaborated with Pink Floyd on 'The Wall'). Sadly he died at 55 in 2003 little after doing the music for BoB in 2001 (I googled it shortly after finishing the series).

So, Band of Brothers it is.

I'm going to change from my original nominee of Rockford Files to BoJack's Theme from BoJack Horseman. Fits my current mood better.

lol George...  that was a sure fire vote getter for me...  was one.. in fact #4 of my alts but held off thinking I might select favs of others.

Great theme no doubt.. a stone cold 70's classic only a midge below those like Barney Miller (for being pretty much a mandatory piece for any bassist to learn and play) but a lot of personal memories with dear old dad wrapped in that one. Was his favorite show back then.  That theme sticks in the head like.. well.. the way deeply imprinted childhood memories tend to do.

finally getting a FtF..  music is natural music is fun music is best when it is ONE ON ONE kind of listens. While working on the computer this week I'd hear Raff listening but in most cases was not able to put what I was hearing to any memory of seeing these TV shows..

so off I go...

First choice is this melancholy theme from "Lassie."

Alternates for fun are short and sweet but evocative theme from "My Friend, Flicka"

and from the delightfully 1960's "Daktari"

not a dog person.. so never was much of a lassie fan. Though my first true real true love had a lassie kind of dog and she was cute (the dog.. Corinne was a bombshell)

the music.. ehhh..  didn't say Lassie to me.. though I do love a good whistle

Flika - dear God .. not bad musically but that video.. nearly sent me into the shakes and spasms.. not sure if that was the video quality or what it actually was..  perhaps it was being sober and watching it haha

and Daktari

LOVED that.. and that music.. the video...  and hahahahha..  the cross eyed Lion gets my vote.  Hard to see this one getting knocked off the top spot.  Itchs many scratches .. and though I didn't recognize the music..the intro did jog a deep memory. I might have seen that way back as a little tike.

This one, I believe, is relatively well-known:

Don McLean's "Vincent" became famous in Italy as the opening theme of Lungo il fiume e sull'acqua, a detective series based on the novel The Other Man by British author Francis Durbridge. Here is the full version of the song:

oh I loved that.. my knowledge of Don McLean begins and ends with one song so had never heard that.  I really liked that.. and cool video.. obviously never seen the show.

I know you didn't choose this one but would have been a strong contender if you had...

Haha, beginning of the week. I was feeling the upbeatness of Rockford. But work kicked my butt, and I was closer to an alcoholic self-loathing horse. What can I say?

Spiderman, remember this very well, and also think the Homer Simpson version is just hilarious. This is also iconic of course.

He actually has done truck loads of TV soundtracks, and the one I'm playing here isn't exactly an application for PA, but I love this melody to pieces. It's the title track of a TV series, a coal miner saga  set in the densely populated and a bit scruffy working class German Ruhr area (I lived there for 1 1/2 years and loved it for the people there), and the music perfectly combines the coal and steel atmosphere with the romanticism that many who call it their home feel for the region.

reminds me I want to go back to that thread you started..  there was something sample wise you posted from him that I absolutely loved.. first to comment on it.. then do up another listen

as far as this one... another G spotter...  I really really liked that. Not having a actual TV show intro to measure the music v the vibe baby it is hard to judge it in a TV show context but musically. I thought the descending meloloc lines gave an air of mystery.. suspense perhaps.. then the harmonica comes in and seems a bit more upbeat.. then the two in tandem.

not really sure if the music fit the show.. but if it did.. sounds like a kind of show I'd really dig
