Just got an e-mail from Leeds Arena: Genesis play there on Dec 2nd and start the your on Nov 16th.

Will you be going to see them on tour?

I saw Steve Hackett doing Genesis Revisited (brilliantly) in Nov, and I'm not sure if Genesis won't be a massive anti-climax.

I think i'd rather see Steve Hackett again. Or see 'The Musical Box'. Or stay at home and just play the lps. But there is a little bit of me that looked at the dates... Hmm, Birmingham is on a Saturday! We could do that! Will I regret it if I don't get a ticket?? But then I go 'No, I think im happy with memories and the albums.

Don't live near Ireland or the UK. Will be cool to see Phil's son on the kit, sure to be a stellar show.

Booked to see, Steve Hackett at Bradford St George’s Hall in November and Genesis at, Leeds Arena in December. I reckon that as covered all the bases.

If Genesis can duplicate their playing abilities from 2006-2007 they’ll be in good shape and the fans will really appreciate it, however I’ve got my doubts just because every member of genesis look pretty damn old...I mean Phil Collins can barely walk for godsakes. 🤪

Most prog Genesis fans(ie most on here) would probably be better off just seeing Steve Hackett or the Musical Box or one of the many other Genesis tribute bands(most of which seem to focus on the prog era).

Hi,

If they do this, PG needs to come and so does SH, for a full hour or so ... so the fans get a real treat at what was once a great band. I might even have AP be the opening act, conducting a group of mice ... oopps ... people dressed as mice ... just for a fun joke. And do some real far out parts and pieces ... and hope that the audience appreciates the fun, and the music!

And for fun, SH, PC and PG need to be in that little "orchestra" and then take off their masks ... right after a few people boo after 10 minutes ... and have those people be escorted out!

Make the tour fun ... and give the folks something that they will remember for many years to come, instead of just a few hit songs!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

A Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett reunion, would be more Genesis than anything the other three can do.

They might do their Medley. That’s about as Prog as they get since the 80’s. Having said, I love The Way We Walk Volume 2 - The Longs.
I may get the DVD,
And then, it may get called off altogether due to one of them falling. Oh, falling ill, (or heaven forbid, something worse.....)

The set list they did on their last tour was not very different from the one they did in the early 90's. If they tour again this year and playing more or less the same songs once again, it is going to be dull. However, if they change things up a bit and include some surprises it might be interesting enough.

I must admit to being tempted but the ticket prices were horrendous... I was lucky enough to see them in 77, 78 and 87 so maybe better to hold those memories.  Phil Collins seems to be the main concern; we won't be able to witness one of the greatest drummers again and his health seems frail.  However, the band have dismissed the possibility of teaming up with Gabriel and Hackett (why would he anyway?)  Had they approached Ray Wilson they might have also righted a wrong...

Hi,

After reading and seeing a few comments (that one from the guy in the studio specially!!!!) ... I'm almost inclined to think that PG would not be there, and that it is likely that he has lost his ability to sing a lot of things and he does not know how to adjust ... heck FZ's voice changed a full octave just about ... and he got more famous!

Ohhh heck ... we can't have the lawnmower song be RAPP'd can we? That would be fun, and throw the audience a curve ball and then some!

BTW, I think that SH is probably booked for the next several years and his joining a GENESIS this or that would be a problem, and not enough rehearsal time to get it right and proper ... (just a thought!)

Having listened to and seen Genesis in their prime 1970s and then only one time later 3 Sides tour at Forest Hills stadium with that one being the final swansong for me and them, I think they are more than done.. I also worked several gigs with them in '92 and 2007 and have seen the toll touring takes on them firsthand.

Their later gigs became too heavy on huge scenic and production elements that bordered on trying to top whoever had just did a stadium tour.  Designs by Fisher Price who does most of the big A level acts when going 'open air' were starting to take on a " ok this is big but is it really necesary ?' look.
The prospect of a reunion let alone the trio going out again doesnt create a spark. They should leave well enough alone . Unless the trio are getting offered an unGodly amount of $ to do it - which may very well be the case.
That said as far as SH and PG showing up well they dont just show up and say "Hey lets play a song or two  you guys for the old days huh ? '  These are agreed to in tour advance planning . There are a load of legal /contractual issues to hammer out and then available dates if any. So while the audience may think its a surprise guest just for that show it is well planned in advance and thats if the two even want to and agree to any terms.
The experience of listening to old guys with back up musicians slog thru their catalog with a very fatigued Collins trying to sing like he did 30 even 20 years ago will not be pretty.

Stick with Steve Hackett's tours and you wont go wrong. There is still magic to be had on any given night with them.

Oh I have my doubts as well if they can pull this off. Phil, the poor guy, can barely walk these days.

I wouldn't see them in the mid-to-late 80s 'cause they were long past their proggy prime - I wasn't going to stand in a sea of 35,000 waiting for the "long medley" then, so I certainly won't do it now.....but I did check the tour dates and prices, just for the halibut.

I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Had this e-mail:

Genesis' concert originally due to take place in December 2020 and then rescheduled to April 2021 has been further rescheduled.

The rescheduled dates are Monday 20 - Wednesday 22 September 2021.

The event organisers have been in touch to say that:

"Due to this unprecedented and changing situation, it was not possible to go ahead with the show on Monday 5 - Wednesday 7 April 2021. Therefore Genesis' performance at Utilita Arena Birmingham on Monday 5 - Wednesday 7 April 2021 will be rescheduled to Monday 20 - Wednesday 22 September 2021. We’re pleased to have been able to reschedule so do hang on to your ticket – it will be valid for the new date."

no great surprise obviously
