Hugh Syme is an amazing artist http://www.hughsyme.com

also go to http://www.2112.net/powerwindows if your not familiar with some of Rush's coverwork

It's really hard to say which album's cover art is the best. They all have some aspect that make it a great cover. And each of Rush's generations has different cover art. 70's Rush had drastically different covers from 80's Rush, and 80's Rush had drastically different covers from 90's Rush.

I have to say that the best in my opinion at the moment is a tie between A Farewell to Kings and Caress of Steel. Caress of Steel has a such a great cover, with one side being a drawing of the Necromancer, the other side being a portrait of the Fountain of Lamneth. Then the A Farewell to Kings cover is good because of the wreckage surrounding the Puppet King.

My vote goes to Caress of Steel, in the end.

Oh come on guys... this is a no-brainer... 'Moving Pictures' wins hands down.... it's that sharp, it'll cut itself!!

I also quite like the egg in a G clamp inside Grace Under Pressure, but you did say the COVER, which is pleasing on the eye, but frankly I don't understand it!

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I voted for permanent waves cos it was the first rush
album i ever owned and I really liked the cool pics on
the back of the sleeve of Alex's 6&12 in the live room
at Le tudio and Ged looking thoughtful at the desk.

But for a Single image - I really like the test for Echo
cover for some reason, just a cool picture.

Signals is a pretty bold graphic too

and when i was a Rush noob and had very few of
their records the one i most wanted to get was
Caress of Steel cause it had this cool fantasy vibe
about its cool gatefold sleeve.

I eventually got a vinyl copy and was hugely
disappointed - very patchy album

I had to go with Exit Stage Left. I thought that was one of cleverist cover concepts I've seen. Putting elements from all their covers at the time together at once backstage. I wonder how the Permanent Waves gal got along with the Hemespheres guy?

It's close between Caress of Steel and Fly By Night, but I'll have to go with Caress of Steel.

That cover's so cool, I had to buy the vinyl just so I could frame a big picture of it...

FTK and Grace Under Pressure are two of my all time favorites, but I have to go with Grace.
