This gets increasingly difficult at the first three:
Take a Pebble
Tarkus
Gates of Kiev
Endless Enigma

If I must....

Still....You Turn Me On
Fanfare for the Common Man

if I really must...

Tiger in a Spotlight
Officer & Gentleman

Then again... all the Powell to ELP LOL

Score

I quite like the version that E L and Palmer (not Powell!) did on the Manticore Box Set.

I saw them play it live in '93 on the Black Moon tour. Amazing!

Yep I prefer the live version of Tarkus to the studio version but then ran into the problem of what to include from Side 2 of Tarkus. Bitches Crystal and A Time and A Place are good but lag a bit behind their very best for me.
The whole Baba Yaga section is superb but I wanted all of it not just one part so went for The Sage instead. Great choice nevertheless.

Tarkus
Take a pebble
Tocatta
Trilogy
Pirates
Close but not touching
Black Moon
Touch and Go (they were very lucky to find a good drummer who's last name began with the letter PWink

Not much of a fan of side two of Tarkus. The first album is probably my favorite of theirs by far.

Yeah, pretty convenient how that worked out.

Until Palmer returned but Lake left, to be replaced by Berry, who's initial is not L.

So dudes just punted and called themselves '3'

I ran out of albums that I like :(

Yea, I had the same problem. Had to cheat and go with some live stuff.

I kinda' cheated by slipping in a final selection from Emerson, Lake & Powell.

70-77 era … :

 -The Barbarian
- Tarkus
- The Great Gates Of Kiev
- Trilogy
- Still You Turn Me On
- Take A Pebble (Welcome Back …)
- Fanfare For The Common Man
- Honky Tonk Train Blues

Bombastic Moog, swirling Hammond, swinging piano, tender acoustic guitar, ELP was awesome and varied in that era!

Time for another installment of " Make your own ------ album", This time, ELP.
You get to pick 8 ELP tracks to go on your own compilation album. The one rule is you can only use one track form each existing album. Pick for any 8 albums you like. Don't worry about song length, just pick 8 songs.

1. Knife-Edge
2 .Tarkus (Abridged)
3. Great Gate of Kiev
4. From the Beginning
5. Karn Evil 9 - First Imp. Pt 2
6. Hoedown (Live from welcome back my Friends)
7. Fanfare for the Common Man
8. Paper Blood
