Ok, that was difficult... Yes Rush Genesis Marillion The Police Frank Zappa Soundgarden Any of these: Return to Forever / Brand X / Weather Report / A. Holdsworth / Gong (Gazeuse!) Any of these: PFM / Maxophone / Gentle Giant Any of these: Sibelius / Holst / Bartok Runner-ups: Jimi Hendrix, Gipsy Kings, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Gong (Shamal, You, Live etc.), Tears for Fears, Men at Work, and a lot of 80's music! (Phil Collins, Guns 'n Roses, some Whitney Houston, Soda Stereo…), NOFX. Genesis a bit more to Phil Collins era, as there's more to choose from (that I didn't know so well) and is more listenable when at the car with my wife. PFM I mostly listen to Chocolate Kings (the first I met and my favorite), but also L'Isola.. Edited by Machinemessiah - June 06 2019 at 14:42 |

Nice listing ... surprisingly there are a lot of things that are also common for me, although I generally do not like to make these lists because tomorrow I will hear something else by a group called Bald Angels and I will love it dearly to the end of my time! Who knows? And for me the PAST is not an indicator of the best music ... as was the case in our time and generation, a lot of the music we came up with is top notch and gets quite valuable presence and reverence here. Rock/jazz music ... Amon Duul 2 Tangerine Dream Van der Graaf Generator (although this could easily turn into PH albums only!) Can Hawkwind Guru Guru Caravan Vangelis Egberto Gismonti Keith Jarrett For classical music, I like too many things going as far as Albinoni. I'm not a great fan, of what I call the "mechanical and numerical" style of music for the next 200 to 300 years until Mozart bent it sideways! Puccini Stravinsky Debussy Mahler Britten (same birthday) ... and (of course!) just about anyone that Ken Russell gave us such incredible visuals! And "MAHLER" is one of his films that I really like. And that ending is just heart crushing ... he wrote a symphony for her, and she left! So sad ... and the music ... wow! His "ELGAR" is also magnificent. |

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Rock Music: Van der Graaf Generator Can Embryo Hawkwind Magma Amon Düül 2 Tangerine Dream Gong Guru Guru Nektar Classical (in a broad sense): Johann Sebastian Bach Claude Debussy Maurice Ravel Ludwig van Beethoven Igor Stravinsky Franz Schubert Robert Schumann Carlo Gesualdo Antonin Dvořák Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart With
some of these composers I concentrate on certain works and avoid
others; for example with Mozart I concentrate on his operas, his piano
compositions and his string quartets but avoid his symphonies (with the
exception of KV 550, one of his two G minor symphonies). |

Pink Floyd Yes Radiohead Genesis (been getting into them a little more these days) Harmonium Maneige Mamamoo (one of those K-pop groups that values singing talent over looks) Rush Wobbler Steely Dan
