the second announcement came in ... Please welcome on Saturday, 20th July: t German multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and control freak Thomas Thielen is t. He has always been famous for his enigmatic existence in the studio - but now, after 19 years of claiming it was impossible to get t on stage, he's doing it! t has always been a musician. He was classically educated and during school time his main interest shifted to guitar playing. Today he admits to being a strictly under-average musician with quite a few instruments none of which he is capable of playing properly. t has always been interested in sound issues. His music has always been known for its combination or resonating melodies, avatgarde soundscaping and strangely natural sounding odd metres. A new album is set for a 2019 release. The live-band consits of Thomas Thielen (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Jan Steiger (guitars), Dominik Hüttermann (keyboards), Yenz Strutz (bass) and Thomas Nussbaum (drums). t will perform for the first time on the rock on Saturday, 20th July 2019 - so please welcome: t! |

next announcement, that will please the italian visitors for sure: NIGHT OF THE PROG 2019 OFFICIAL Please welcome on Sunday, 21st July: RanestRane! RanestRane (that means “Strange Frogs”) is an Italian progressive rock band formed in Rome in 1998. The band writes progressive style music and concept albums inspired by art films such as "Nosferatu the Vampyre" by W. Herzog, "The Shining" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. The "A Space Odyssey’s trilogy" features guest appearances from Steve Rothery and Steve Hogarth, guitarist and frontman of Marillion respectively. RanestRane’s most distinctive feature is its live performance: the band composes and performs original lyrics and music, blending them with short excerpts from the movie, projected in the background. The original score is almost entirely replaced by the new soundtrack. The band re-elaborates the art film, thus producing a real Rock Opera. The vocal parts featuring original lyrics are intertwined with fragments of the film dialogues, so creating a new approach to the way spectators experience the film screening. Their most recent album "A Space Odyssey – Final Part – Starchild" has been presented live during the first RanestRane Weekend (on May 4th-6th in Cervia, Italy). It’s the third part of a trilogy inspired by the Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey". It was officially released on June 6th, 2018. RanestRane are: Daniele Pomo – vocals, drums & percussions Riccardo Romano – keyboards, harp & backing vocals Maurizio Meo – bass & double bass Massimo Pomo – acoustic & electric guitars We are proud to have RanesRane on board next year. The band will perform for the first time on the rock on Sunday, 21st July 2019 - so please welcome: RanestRane! |

next announcement, the headliner for Saturday ... Please welcome our HEADLINER on Saturday, 20th July - one of the most legendary drummers in music history with his new project: NICK MASON's SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS We are very proud to announce that PINK FLOYD's drummer NICK MASON will be headlining the Saturday, 20th July 2019, at our NIGHT OF THE PROG FESTIVAL on the famous Loreley, Germany. NICK MASON is the only member of PINK FLOYD who can be
heard on every album and every tour. Contrary to his colleagues Roger
Waters and David Gilmour, Mason never had much interest in a solo career
and has released only three solo albums. The band has performed a highly
successful tour earlier this year and will be out on tour again in 2019
in North America and the UK. Their setlist is a tour-de-force of old
Pink Floyd material, as the band's name suggests. The band will perform for the first time on the rock on Saturday, 20th July 2019 - so please welcome: |

was away for a couple of days, so we have *three* more announcements now:
Dilemma, The Steve Hillage Band, Oak -------
Please welcome on Friday, 19th July, Dutch/British band DILEMMA! We are very happy to announce that Dilemma will be performing on Friday, 19th July 2019, during our NIGHT OF THE PROG FESTIVAL on the Loreley, Germany. Dutch/British melodic and progressive rock act DILEMMA disappeared from the public eye for years, until they came back with a brand new album "Random Act Of Liberation". Their debut album, "Imbroccata", was released way back in 1995. The only new member since their debut is Dec Burke, who joined the band for their new album after their original singer decided to leave the band. The band secretly decided to reset and start over while keep working under the same moniker. Now with a completely rewritten and newly recorded album, and with Dec Burke as their new front man, there’s no question left: DILEMMA is here to stay for the long run and ‘Random Acts Of Liberation’ paves the way for a whole new journey We are looking forward to seeing them perform during our Festival, so please welcome for the first time on the rock on Friday, 19th July 2019: DILEMMA DILEMMA are ------- Please welcome our HEADLINER on Sunday, 21st July - The STEVE HILLAGE Band! Their performance at Night Of The Prog will be the only Festival show they will do in Europe Mainland in 2019. Steve Hillage told PROG Magazine / Loudersounds a few days ago: “I haven't yet worked out what songs I am going to do. Some are obvious, and I will also look to feature some deep cuts from these albums. What I could also do is include one or two tracks from later albums like Open (79) and And Not Or (82); remember that last band tour was at the time when Open was released. My aim is to put together a stonking setlist that truly shines.” The full article is available here: The band will perform for the first time on the rock on Sunday, 21st July 2019 - so please welcome: The STEVE HILLAGE Band! ------- Please welcome on Sunday, 21st July - one of the "hottest" bands in Prog- and Artrock Music, from Norway: OAK OAK's core of Simen Valldal Johannessen on piano and vocals, Øystein Sootholtet on bass, keys and programming and Sigbjørn Reiakvam on drums, keys and programming all come from diverse backgrounds spanning from classical piano to electronica, prog- and hardrock, and includes references to the alternative scene as well as progressive rock. Next announcement for Sunday : Please welcome on Sunday, 21st July, THE WINDMILL! They have been waiting patiently for a long long time to perform on the rock and now we are very happy to announce that THE WINDMILL will be performing on Sunday, 21st July, presenting new material from their critically acclaimed new album "Tribus". The Windmill are a Norwegian progressive rock band formed in 2001 in the outskirts of Oslo. The music is symphonic neo prog influenced by several bands from the golden years of the seventies, such as Genesis, Pink Floyd, Camel and others. The debut album "To be continued ..." was released May 2010, and the follow up "The Continuation" was released in 2013 and received great reviews around the world. After 5 years, The Windmill have just released their new album "Tribus", which has got a lot of attention and great reviews throughout the progressive rock scene. Resolutely grabbing influences from the likes of Camel, Jethro Tull and Genesis, The Windmill have blended their inspirations in an attempt to fashion their own idiosyncratic sound - like clever melodic twists loitering in many tracks. The music on "Tribus" is a nice complicated eclectic side of neo prog, well balanced and with catchy memorable parts. Mixed and mastered by Karl Groom from Threshold this time around. Members: We are looking forward to seeing them perform during our Festival, so please welcome on Sunday, 21st July 2019: THE WINDMILL |

new announcement for saturday :) Please welcome on Saturday, 20th July: TIM BOWNESS Tim Bowness is primarily known as vocalist/co-writer with "no-man", a long-running collaboration with Steven Wilson. In addition to releasing six studio albums and a documentary DVD with no-man, Tim has worked with popular Italian artist Alice, Mercury Prize nominated Banco De Gaia, Robert Fripp, Peter Hammill and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera (amongst many others). Bowness’s critically acclaimed recent trio of solo releases have entered the official UK Top 10 Rock, Progressive, and Vinyl charts and 2017’s “Lost In The Ghost Light” appeared in several end of year lists and was the recipient of a Prog Magazine award. Produced by no-man, Tim's new album “Flowers
At The Scene” is a vibrant collection of 11 strikingly diverse songs.
Against a backdrop of propulsive Art Rock, heartbreaking ballads and
more, Tim Bowness distinctively delivers cinematic storytelling and
disarmingly direct confessional lyrics on his strongest solo album to
date. Tim Bowness and his band (Which will basically consist of the no-man live Band minus Steven Wilson) will present tracks from the new album and some classics from the past. We are thrilled that Tim Bowness will be part of the Night Of The Prog Experience, so please welcome, for the first time on the rock: TIM BOWNESS |

big update for Friday ....
Please welcome on Friday, 19th July: TANGERINE DREAM “QUANTUM OF ELECTRONIC EVOLUTION” One of the biggest icons of electronic music, Tangerine Dream has painted stadium-sized soundscapes for over half a century. Founded and led by Edgar Froese, the German group has pioneered Ambient and Krautrock (or ”Kosmische Musik”), released over 100 studio albums and created over sixty film scores. Following Froese’s passing in 2015, the group’s remaining members have continued to fulfill the founder’s musical vision both through live performances and on the 2017 studio album Quantum Gate (nominated for the Prog Music Awards 2018). Froese’s widow Bianca Froese-Acquaye is working closely with the band and upholding her husband’s legacy. Tangerine Dream have their finger on the pulse of the time: A younger generation is discovering their soundtrack compositions through the world-wide hit computer game GRAND THEFT AUTO V (GTA V) and their exciting musical appearances in Netflix series like Black Mirror – Bandersnatch or Stranger Things. Tangerine Dream has always surprised their audiences with so-called instant compositions; live improvisations like TD did in the 70’s - besides their usual repertoire of classic tracks. In 2018 a number of festival appearances at Dekmantel Amsterdam, Flow Helsinki, Ozora Hungary, MIRA Barcelona have added to a growing audience for their unique electronic improvisations. We are thrilled that TANGERINE DREAM will be part of the Night Of The Prog Experience 2019 and be prepared to hear and see a one-off session during their set! So please welcome: TANGERINE DREAM |

two new updates ... Chandelier All traps on Earth ---------- Please welcome on Friday 19th July: CHANDELIER! Chandelier
is a German Neo-Prog band, which released three critically acclaimed
albums on InsideOut Music in the 90ies, before calling it a day by the
end of the last century. Fast forward 20 years: The albums are now being
re-released, and were remastered by Grobschnitt legend Eroc. After 25 years, CHANDELIER will be back on stage for one night only, performing material from the three albums that placed them at the forefront of the German prog scene in the early 90ies. This exclusive reunion concert will feature four members of the original line-up - which Progressive Rock Files called «one of Europe’s most accomplished neo-progressive rock bands» and the show will center around their album Facing Gravity, featured in Eclipsed Magazine’s list of Top 40 German Prog albums.
Chandeliers original fanbase is located in Germany, France and the
Netherlands and there are still many Proggers interested in the work of
this fascinating band. This is a very special chance to see them live -
just one more time. Martin Eden - Vocals We are thrilled that CHANDELIER will be part of the Night Of The Prog Experience 2019 and be prepared to hear and see a one-off show that you won't see elsewhere! So please welcome: CHANDELIER ---------- Please welcome on Sunday, 21st July: ALL TRAPS ON EARTH *** LIVE-Premiere at Night Of The Prog 2019 *** All Traps on Earth is a new Swedish prog band that will do the first ever live appearance at the Night or Prog Festival, 2019. Their first studio album, "A Drop of Light", written by Johan Brand and Thomas Johnson (Änglagård), was released in late 2018 on AMS record. While the band was initially built for the studio, the overwhelming reception for "A Drop of Light" inspired the creation of a live band, including old friends from the Änglagård days - Erik Hammarström, Jonas Endgegård, Linus Kåse, and Daniel Borgegård Älgå. The music of All Traps on Earth is deeply rooted in the progressive movement of the late 60s early 70s. It is powerful, full of the chaotic, the symphonic, the enchanting and the fragile. The landscapes are varied through instrumentations that includes wind instruments like the flute, saxophones of all sizes, clarinets, and walls of Mellotrons, alongside fuzz-guitar, Rhodes, Hammond organs. But it is the duo on bass and drums that steals the show! The band will perform tracks from their studio album A Drop Of Light - but maybe also something from Änglagård at the Loreley! MUSICIANS Johan Brand - Bass, keyboards and vocals We are thrilled that ALL TRAPS ON EARTH will play their first ever show at Night Of The Prog 2019! So please welcome: ALL TRAPS ON EARTH! |

good and not so good news ... The good one: Please welcome on Saturday, 20th July: FORS F.O.R.S. (Famous Or Random Stars) were formed in Switzerland in 2016. Four individual musicians with different backgrounds play together to create Prog Rock songs, preferably instrumental. The style of the swiss band may be called “Instrumental sphere rock” – a banner the band created themselves. Mighty, delicate, fast, slow, atmospheric, earthly are suitable words to describe FORS` compositions. Their first – self-released – album “Before” was recorded and released in 2018, collecting 12 tracks with a running time of 76 minutes. The band will perform tracks from their studio album "Before" and will kick off the Saturday with their performance. MUSICIANS Roland Hegi - Guitars We are happy to have Fors at Night Of The Prog 2019! ------- and here's the bad news: Due to unforseen circumstances, IN CONTINUUM have to cancel their show
at this year's Night Of The Prog Festival (Friday, 19th July). Both,
Dave Kerzner (and his band) and the Night Of The Prog staff regret the
decision and we all hope that In Continuum will be performing at Night Of The Prog in 2020 or beyond. We will keep in touch! |

two more bands are announced ... Lazuli and Special Providence --- Please welcome on Saturday, 20th July: LAZULI LAZULI took the audience by storm when they performed in 2009, 2012 and 2015 at Night Of The Prog. We have also fulfilled many requests by fans and LAZULI are the last addition to our line-up 2019, which is now complete! Lazuli, a band from the south of France, was formed in 1998. Somewhere between rock, progressive rock and world music, poetry and travel, the remarkable music of Lazuli visit new territories with a rather unusual instrumentation: marimba, French Horn, drums, percussions, guitars, vocals... But also and especially a unique instrument created by Claude Leonetti: the Léode). For Lazuli's musicians, songs are canvases on which they mix colors to paint their own world. The floating voice, playing with words, sings out ‘man’ in all of his facets. Lazuli brings atypical notes of originality to France's musical scene and carries them across it’s borders... On stage, Lazuli uplifts and bewitches... Lazuli's latest album, "Saison 8", was released last year. MUSICIANS Gédéric BYAR - Guitar We are very happy that LAZULI will once again be part of Night Of The Prog 2019! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please welcome on Friday, 19th July: SPECIAL PROVIDENCE SPECIAL PROVIDENCE played at Night Of The Prog in 2015 and we all remember they earned an enthusiastic response from the crowd - and they promised to bring enough CDs this year! With their virtuoso yet easily digestable style, Special Providence from Hungary are one of the best known modern instrumental bands in Europe. With an emphasis on good tunes rather than endless flashy soloing, the band has created a unique style – a mixture of modern jazz, progressive rock/metal and electronica – which manages to impress and engage the listener both at the same time. Their dynamic stage presence makes them a captivating live act, with performances on the major prog festivals worldwide and successful tours, performances with bands like HAKEN, SPOCK’S BEARD, DREAM THEATER and many others. Their most recent album is "Will" from 2017 and this could be their most progressive work so far. The band has signed to GEP records just two years earlier. For their performance, they will focus on this album plus some stuff from earlier albums. MUSICIANS Adam Marko - Drums We look forward to having SPECIAL PROVIDENCE at Night Of The Prog 2019! |
