I think I've only listened to 2 metal albums this whole year. No way I can contribute 30.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

It seems the real challenge is going to be to find 30 albums/bands that are on MMA. I guess it would be too late to request additions now? Weirdly enough I don't remember having the same problem at all last year.

30 is just the maximum.  If you just want to do a list of 1 metal album that is probably fine too...but can one item really be a list???

I probably listened to 5 albums they would have listed there this year. 2 I would consider voting for.
Ok, 3 I guess.

I've heard more than 30, but whether those in the 28-30 range actually belong on a "best" list...I mean, we're nearing "Edith Bunker sings Christmas carols" levels at that point. I can probably list 20 good ones though.

Great job!
I've been a fan of the all-girl Japanese metal (and rock) scene for a decade now...it was a lonely ride for a while, but I'm glad it's been gaining traction out in the West recently, with Lovebites in particular plugging away in Europe.
Mary's Blood is my long time current fav of the power metal types (I love Saki's guitarwork...and her), but the gorgeous tag team of Miyako and Midori from Lovebites has that crossover appeal that can't be denied.
The sizable all-girl scene spreads out into thrash, grind, melodeath  and other genres as well. For all intents and purposes, Yellow Machinegun were one of the only thrash band in the late 90's that didn't stink.
