Isn't there a way to take PA off the hands of M@X? Must we migrate en masse to ProgEars? Or trying to buy a new PA brick by brick?

Its on my lottery winner bucket list.

Were there any emoticons or hyperlinks in the quoted text? If so, remove them, if not, just hit the back button on your browser and try again.

Otherwise we need to take up arms!

I don't get much problems with this nowadays. I haven't lost a post since... I can't remember! Big smile

I usually now only get cap'd when I post images, though occasionally with regular posts.   It has improved, but one should never post something they put thought into without saving it.

^A cold comfort that I am not the only one who suffers from this. I had to writhe my way through a quite a deck of poor quality images earlier this day: 46 clicks, Access denied, post again and then a dozen more Disapprove.

Edit: 32 more + Access Denied + x. These captcha's are a progressive disease Censored Angry!

I've been having much worse than usual problems the past couple days as well.  No posts get through without at least 2 permission denied screens and I've been run through check box hell multiple times Unhappy

I find that clearing my cache regularly helps. I use the free version of CCleaner.

I once also thought so - but eventually time proved me wrong

I've read that it hits people more depending upon what kind of sites they visit (for instance, those who frequent porn sites might get hit harder by Captcha).

That said, there does seem to be little rhyme or reason to it. For a long time after it was implemented, I wasn't getting hit at all. And now, despite my efforts (and I don't visit porn sites), I get hit a lot (at least I don't have to remember to save posts as I can just backspace and keep trying, or go back to my post and the text is still there). It's a pain, and I often have accessibility issues in different parts of the site.

I find that a post with just plain text will get through first time. Any sign of a quote, smiley face or hyperlink and the captcha police will nab you straight away.

Am I just dreaming here, or has this monster finally gone back to sleep? Early last week I was getting multiple CAPTCHA challenges one after another before I even got to one with a 'Verify' button (which of course would inevitably lead to an 'Access Denied' error, and thus mean that the process would have to be started all over again). It had become impossible to post with the Chrome browser at all, and only possible with IE11 if I kept it to purely plain text.

These last four or five days have been entirely CAPTCHA-free in both browsers though...and I've included hyperlinks, smiley emoticons, etc which would previously have been gobbled up by the monster and swallowed whole.

Is anyone else noticing this, or am I just on a temporary lucky break with an apparently squeaky clean current IP address? Ermm

We think it is possible that the site owner might have noticed some discontent amongst the great and the good, and intervened in a positive fashion.

Wow - let's hope so! I thought the chances of this ever happening had gone for good though back in mid August after the site was off-line for several days following ongoing SQL injections - none of which the Cloudflare CAPTCHA defenses seemed to be able to stop. Maybe M@X finally came to his senses as a result of this and realized the whole CAPTCHA thing was pointless anyway!
